Over the past several months, your generosity has continued to provide critical support to people with disabilities in Gaza who are enduring extremely difficult living conditions. As displacement, shortages of essential goods, and rising costs continue to affect families across the Gaza Strip, people with disabilities remain among the most vulnerable and often face additional barriers in accessing assistance and maintaining their independence.
With the USD $20,000.64 raised so far, we focused on addressing urgent humanitarian needs through the provision of food assistance, hygiene kits, mobility aids, bedding, and accessibility support. Approximately $9,000 was used for food assistance to help families meet their basic nutritional needs, while around $3,500 supported the distribution of hygiene kits containing essential personal care items. An additional $3,500 was allocated to mobility aids, helping people with disabilities move more safely and independently. Approximately $2,500 supported the provision of bedding for displaced households, and the remaining $1,500.64 was used to improve accessibility within shelters and temporary living spaces, making them safer and more accommodating for people with disabilities.
Beyond the distribution of essential items, our team continued to conduct regular visits with beneficiaries to better understand their evolving needs and identify areas where additional support may be required. These visits also provided an opportunity to connect with individuals and families who often experience isolation and limited access to services during times of crisis.
During one distribution visit, our team met a family caring for a young adult with a disability who had been displaced multiple times throughout the crisis. The family explained that obtaining basic necessities had become increasingly difficult as prices continued to rise and resources grew scarce. The assistance helped ease some of the pressure on the household and allowed them to focus on caring for their family member's needs. Similar stories were shared by many of the families we visited, highlighting the importance of continued support for people with disabilities during this challenging period.
Despite the many obstacles faced by our field teams, including restricted access, insecurity, and fluctuating market conditions, your support has enabled us to continue reaching vulnerable households and responding to their most pressing needs. Every contribution helps provide practical assistance and reassurance to people who are navigating extraordinary challenges on a daily basis.
In the coming months, we aim to continue providing essential support to people with disabilities and their families, expanding our outreach wherever possible and ensuring that those most at risk are not left behind.
Thank you for standing with Gaza's disabled community. Your compassion and solidarity continue to bring dignity, comfort, and hope to individuals and families facing some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable.
