A school for hearing impaired children was established in 2006 with funding from an NGO. Due to lack of funding, this school was closed during the 2019-2020 school year. Thus, a woman from Sokode offered to take over the schooling of these children in a school that was created in the school year 2020 - 2021. In order to achieve the result 3 of its strategic plan 2021-2025, the NGO CAV proposed the project: "Institutional support to the School of Local Initiative for Hearing Impaired Children".
After the closure, the hearing impaired children who attended this school were left at home, with no support from the educational system. This further complicated the lives of the parents and the children. These children became more vulnerable to trafficking and abuse. The promoters of the new school do not have enough means to fully support the schooling of these children, nor to build the school.
The main objective of the project is to contribute to the development of the hearing impaired children of Sokode through institutional support. This support consists of 1. Strengthen the school's human resources; 2. Acquire teaching materials and consumables; 3. To have financial means to facilitate the renting of classrooms and others; 4. Acquire land to build a school building with 3 classrooms plus an office; 5. Build a three-classroom building plus an office.
1. The school will survive and be able to continue to care for the hearing impaired children who are sometimes marginalized in our communities; 2. The school will be able to accommodate more than 50% of hearing impaired children in the coming years; 3. The school enrollment rate of children will be increased in the city of Sokode; 4. The only private specialized school taking care of the education of deaf and hard of hearing children aims to become a reference school.
