The UYSTO appreciates all her supporting donors through GlobalGiving for having supported her participants for over 15 years in the menstrual hygiene management and construction of the vocational education skills training centre (VET centre).

You have rely supported us and become part of our vision at UYSTO. we envision to accelerate, transform and stimulate youth and women broad based socio-economic developed nation, Uganda. Thank you very much, you have been with us throughout this journey

The impact of your support, paved the way for other players in supporting us have the VET centre construction take off. We have so far constructed the office block, water born washrooms fully furnished and the summer house for conducting, students, stakeholders UYSTO staff meetings.

We are currently hosting volunteers in the same place, supporting schools around, involved in gardening and construction of one of the VET centre classrooms.

The EU and local volunteers, are digging the trenches for the foundation of the classroom block and this where exactly we need your urgent support as the volunteers need to fulfil their need of construction application. They rely showed the interest in 3 areas; gardening, supporting local primary schools and construction. We are lagging behind on the construction due to lack of the building materials.

To have the construction of the classroom block continue and volunteers feel satisfied with their volunteering efforts in Uganda and at UYSTO, the following construction materials are needed.

1. 5 Sino track of both lake and plaster sand- 1,800,000 x 5 = 9,000,000 UGX - USD 2,500

2. 10 forwards of gravels (stones) 1/2 “250,000 x 10= 2 500 000 UGX - USD 694

3. 5000 concrete blocks - 5000 x 1900 = 9,500,000 UGX - USD 2,639

4.. 200 bags of semi 11 cement 36000 x 200 = 7 200,000 UGX - USD 2,000

5. Iron sheet 48000 x 168 = 8,064,000 UGX - USD 2,240

6. 1200 planks 7000 x 1200 = 8,400,000 UGX USD 2,333

7. 25 windows 450,000 x 25 = 11,250,000 UGX USD 3,125

6. Doors 450000 x 5 = 2,250,000 USD 625.

7. Nails lumpsum 800000 UGX USD 222

8. Foundation bricks 15,000 x 200 (non-Clay bricks) 3,000,000 UGX USD 833.

9. Labour 35000 x 10 skilled labour = 350000 x 31 = 10,850,000 USD 3,014

Grand total 72,814,000 UGX USD 20,226.

The Power of Your Donation.

We have spent over 15 years in the struggle of constructing a community vocational skills training centre. Our plan is to have the Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization enter into its phase of sustainability.

We have for over 19 years created impact of over 170,000 young people, youth and women in different development interventions; starting own business, access to menstrual hygiene products and hygiene management educational sessions, business development services, vocational skills, mentorship, establishment of enterprises and NGOs, all in the hired infrastructure and it has been expensive for the organization. The new centre in Namayumba Wakiso district anticipates to support over 400 young people, youth and teenage mothers’ access, vocational skills training, climate change information, international volunteer hosting organization, youth supporting organization in accessing dignified jobs and smart bin producers and smart waste awareness in the region. All these mentioned projects are already running; the new centre is just receiving them with already great impact among the communities we serve.

Through partnership and collaborations initiated in one of the projects funded by Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation, Firda VGS Norway fundraised locally at school and bought us land where we have now started constructing UYSTO home, which shall include, vocational training centre and administrative offices.

Thank you GlobalGiving donors for your continued support to see that we have reached at this stage. Our plan is that by the mid June 2026, we have offices at the centre such that the funds used for renting are invested in the construction of other structures (Classes and workshops).

The constructed offices shall not be useful without essential necessities, like any operational offices, our new place shall require water for general use (we intend to harvest the water from the roofs with plastic tanks accessories), fine marram road, electricity.

Urgent needed items at the site are

The 10,000 litres water tank and its installation accessories, materials and labour inclusive $900

Electricity extension $3,067

Road grading $1200

This shall support the new UYSTO place be habitable

We need this support before 10th June 2026.

Close to Commencing Construction

Community development priorities look a challenging issue specially when it comes to requesting for support to construct facilities like schools, training centres, orphanages, hospitals etc. I think anyone who has ever experienced such situation, shall be able to testify this.

Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization, in her 2022-2030 frame works, has a task of putting in place a community vocational skills training centre, but this has for a long period of time become the talk of the day at the organization. In spite of almost construction becoming the song of the day, we have been able to secure land where we anticipate to construct the community vocational skills training centre. The centre shall support the most vulnerable young people, youths and teenage mothers to access training facilities and be able to create their own dignified employment, hence self-reliance. This has not yet be a dream achieved.

We thank the GlobalGiving partners who have been able to donate to our project " BUILD A VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE FOR 400 YOUTH". The donations so far collected are soon going to be used in approving one of the building blocks, which shall contain, 3 classes, 1 store and 1 departmental office. This is anticipated to begin early 2026 and the drawing of the proposed construction as already getting finished, remaining to be taken for the approval at the local authority offices, such that by February next year, we commence the project.

Next year we shall use the volunteer camp methodology in the construction and we shall be soon start posting for looking the volunteers who will support the local technicians and engineers who will also be volunteers.

The project still needs a lot of financial support and need for this is in our project appeal which is already going on, we kindly ask you to donate to us such that , by 2026 January, we already have the electricity in place, container to work as material store and volunteers resting shelter, toilet, water tank as there is not tape water close to the proposed construction site.

Your overwhelming support at this primary stage, of project curtain raising is a very crucial support.
