We have spent over 15 years in the struggle of constructing a community vocational skills training centre. Our plan is to have the Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization enter into its phase of sustainability.
We have for over 19 years created impact of over 170,000 young people, youth and women in different development interventions; starting own business, access to menstrual hygiene products and hygiene management educational sessions, business development services, vocational skills, mentorship, establishment of enterprises and NGOs, all in the hired infrastructure and it has been expensive for the organization. The new centre in Namayumba Wakiso district anticipates to support over 400 young people, youth and teenage mothers’ access, vocational skills training, climate change information, international volunteer hosting organization, youth supporting organization in accessing dignified jobs and smart bin producers and smart waste awareness in the region. All these mentioned projects are already running; the new centre is just receiving them with already great impact among the communities we serve.
Through partnership and collaborations initiated in one of the projects funded by Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation, Firda VGS Norway fundraised locally at school and bought us land where we have now started constructing UYSTO home, which shall include, vocational training centre and administrative offices.
Thank you GlobalGiving donors for your continued support to see that we have reached at this stage. Our plan is that by the mid June 2026, we have offices at the centre such that the funds used for renting are invested in the construction of other structures (Classes and workshops).
The constructed offices shall not be useful without essential necessities, like any operational offices, our new place shall require water for general use (we intend to harvest the water from the roofs with plastic tanks accessories), fine marram road, electricity.
Urgent needed items at the site are
The 10,000 litres water tank and its installation accessories, materials and labour inclusive $900
Electricity extension $3,067
Road grading $1200
This shall support the new UYSTO place be habitable
We need this support before 10th June 2026.
