The Clock Is Ticking: Help Us Prevent the Next Outbreak
For families in Ortese, Benue State, every day begins with an impossible choice: drink unsafe water or go without. Following years of violent conflict and recurring flooding, many boreholes and water sources have been damaged or contaminated, leaving children and their families with few safe alternatives. As communities rely on polluted streams and stagnant water, the risk of deadly waterborne diseases continues to grow.
Diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, and other preventable illnesses spread rapidly where clean water and proper sanitation are unavailable. According to the World Health Organization, contaminated drinking water is linked to hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths each year, while children under five remain among the most vulnerable. For families already displaced by conflict, even a single disease outbreak can be devastating—forcing children out of school, overwhelming fragile health services, and pushing struggling households deeper into poverty.
The encouraging news is that this crisis can be prevented. Safe water saves lives. By installing sustainable community water systems, promoting good hygiene practices, and providing handwashing facilities, we can significantly reduce the spread of disease and give children the healthy environment they deserve.
But we cannot do it alone.
Your support today will help prevent tomorrow's outbreak. Every donation helps provide clean, safe water, equips families with life-saving hygiene knowledge, and protects children from diseases that no child should ever have to face. Together, we can replace fear with security, illness with health, and uncertainty with hope.
The clock is ticking, but there is still time to act. Please join us today and help protect the children of Ortese before the next outbreak begins.
