Today, many still trek long distances to gather water from contaminated streams because the community’s sole water facility is no longer functional. This leaves families vulnerable to waterborne diseases and robs children of the chance for healthy development.

In Ortese, a community recovering from violent conflict in Benue State, the only water facility has stopped working.
Each day without safe water forces more children and families to rely on distant, contaminated streams, risking their health and wellbeing.
We have assessed the problem, engaged with the community, and identified effective solutions.
But understanding what needs to be done is only the first step—resources are critical to put these plans into action.
