330 new members have been mobilized through cooperatives in 8 groups. The number of new members joing the cooperatives has been growing steadily over the past several months. These groups start as a small village savings and loans associatiions and then grow bigger by a number of village groups coming together. The enterprise that interests groups most is the rabbit breeding because they are easy to rear, they multiply very fast and they mainly feed on vegetation where many poor people can not spend money on buying feeds.Vegetabe and mashrrom growing is also picking up.37 young girls who dropped out of school as a result of pregnancy during the covid 19 pandemic lock down have now been involved in active vegetable and mashroom growing through village loans and savings associations. The biggest challenge we have is lack of resources to mobilize more groups. We appeal to our partners for more financial support because this project has a tremendous potential to bring poor people together to pull resources that they use to develop small enterproses and generate income to sustain their families.
