This project will help create inclusive spaces in public schools, provide books and reading materials, and train teachers to foster a love for storytelling and literacy in 15 pubic schools. This initiative will ensure primary students in Ghana have the resources and support they need to build confidence, learn effectively, and thrive in an inclusive learning environment.
In Ghana, many students in basic or government schools, especially in underserved areas, lack access to essential reading materials and supportive learning environments. Over 60% of primary school students face difficulties with literacy due to limited resources and inadequate infrastructure. This creates significant barriers to learning and leaves many primary students without the foundational skills they need for future success.
Building on the success of our inaugural Read and Narrate event held in Weija Gbawe, we are expanding this literacy initiative to 15 schools in selected areas of Ghana. The goal is to create inclusive spaces where every child, regardless of background, can engage in reading, storytelling, and learning. Providing reading materials and facilitating interactive, engaging learning activities, we will foster a culture of literacy and creativity among the students.
The project will directly benefit 15 basic schools in selected areas by creating inclusive learning environments. This initiative will provide 150 students with the opportunity to develop vital literacy skills and enhance their academic performance. The long-term impact will include improved literacy rates, better academic outcomes, and empowered children who are confident in their ability to learn and grow.
