We will be providing emergency food supplies to organizations operating in the region as well as directly to families in need who will be transitioning from evacuation centers to either temporary housing or returning home.
The worst flooding in 36 years has displaced people in 13 prefectures. Many have lost their homes and are now living in evacuation centers. As they transition to temporary housing they will need support. We can provide food assistance.
We will be providing water and food assistance to organizations operating in the disaster areas. We will provide direct assistance to families as they transition from evacuation centers to temporary housing or return back home through the sending of food care packages. While we recognize that sending food alone does not "solve" a problem, we have found through our work in Tohoku and Kumamoto disasters that this support is welcomed.
The long-term impact is that being able to provide food assistance as families transition will help them put more focus and financial resources on other issues. We believe this will speed up their recovery.
