Over the course of one year of action following the floods that affected the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Aldeias Infantis SOS implemented a continuous humanitarian response that went beyond immediate emergency assistance and advanced toward recovery actions and family strengthening. The project reached 18,000 people affected by the tragedy, supporting them through different approaches such as access to essential items, psychosocial support, and systematic follow-up of families in situations of high social vulnerability. The Child-Friendly Spaces supported 180 children and adolescents, ensuring care, safety, and educational activities during a period marked by significant material and emotional losses.
With the support of institutional partners, it was possible to contribute to the reconstruction and improvement of 200 homes. The actions carried out supported the recovery of family autonomy, the reduction of social risks, and the development of more sustainable solutions in the post-emergency phase. The closure of this cycle consolidates important learnings for future responses to climate-related disasters, reinforcing Aldeias Infantis SOS’s commitment to long-term action centered on the integral protection of children, adolescents, and their families, even after the most visible phase of the emergency has ended.
“They mean everything to me, a blessing. They helped me with food, with resources, and with support in accessing benefits. And, above all, with positive words,” says J. M., a project participant.
Aldeias Infantis SOS extends its sincere gratitude to all individuals who contributed through donations. The collective mobilization and trust placed in the organization made it possible to expand the reach of the actions, respond to the most urgent needs, and ensure more dignified and humane support for the affected families.
