Creating a Safe Future

By Karen Sparacio | Project Leader

For children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, the loss can extend far beyond the family they knew. Without support, they may also lose their home, their education, access to healthcare, and the stability every child deserves.

This project helps ensure that doesn’t happen.

Rather than placing children in an overcrowded orphanage, we help them remain together in their family home whenever possible. A dedicated matron provides the daily care and guidance they need, while the project helps provide food, clothing, medical care, school fees, and other basic necessities.

Keeping the children in their home also helps protect an important part of their future: the land and property left to them by their parents. By allowing them to remain on their family land, we help safeguard both their inheritance and their connection to the life their parents built for them.

Most importantly, the project gives these children the chance to simply be children—to attend school, have their basic needs met, feel cared for, and grow up with greater security and hope.

The impact extends well beyond today. With a safe home, an education, healthcare, and consistent support, these children have a much stronger foundation for becoming independent adults, building sustainable livelihoods, and creating a different future for themselves.

What begins with meeting a child’s needs today can ultimately help change the course of their life.
