Our emergency centers in Syria, Lebanon, Rohdes and other parts of the Middle East still distribute primary goods to families that live in a neverending condition of emergency. As the emergency status doesn't seem to have any end at sight, Pro Terra Sancta is trying to find ways to keep up the aid but make it sustainable at the same time.
The new project of a kitchen for the poor in Aleppo, that was developed in the past months, moves in this direction.
For years, the association has distributed food parcels to the neediest families in Aleppo but, due to the power crisis most of the families are now unable to even cook in their homes. To respond to this need one hand we are trying to supply solar panels to families ( as specified here: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/turn-on-a-light-in-syria/), on the other we opened a kitchen for the poor where we are able to prepare more than 1,000 warm meals every day.
In this way families that are unable to cook at home can have ready meals to bring home. In some cases if the people are unable to come and retire their meal due to health problems, we also offer a delivery service made possible thanks to the volunteers of the project.
The cost of one meal is 2$ and with the actual budget we're able to provide around 1,000 meals but we hope soon to be able to double the budget since the need is growing day by day.
Support our struggles to fight poverty and malnutrition in Aleppo!
