The summer was filled with exciting programs with which we were able to enrich the children with values, life skills and creativity. Ahead of the school reopening our teachers were facilitated with training sessions to enhance their teaching methodologies and skills. We are immensely proud to share that the percentage of children getting into college has drastically increased this year. With continuous nurturing and support more and more children have been able to complete high school and get into college.
This year we look forward to scaling all our interventions, building innovative teaching methods and strengthening our team to create greater impact trough new programs and initiatives.

School Drop Outs to Graduates

We are immensely proud to share that this year we have got 99% SSLC 10th board results. It's been a successful journey that we cherish every year. As the children complete high school and move to college it's a proud moment for the child, their families and the community they come from. With the skills, nurturing and values that they learn at SUKRUPA, the children have been able to get into prestigious institutions in the city such as Christ University, St. Joseph's, Mount Carmel, Sheshadripuram and Sindhi college to pursue their higher studies. From school drop outs to first generation graduates we have been able to see the transformation and change through the years. We hope that many more children are able to make through that transformation, become responsible citizens and create a better future.

Back to school after the vacations

The school reopening was lit with bright faces, smiles and happiness. The children were back after a short vacation all excited to begin school. Ahead of the school reopening the school building was given a fresh coat with paints and decorations. Like every academic year we pledge to impart the best of Education and continue to empower young minds with all our initiatives.

Kunskapskolan visits SUKRUPA

It was a pleasure to have Mr. Fedrix and family from Kunskapskolan visiting us. They had a wonderful time with us and our children were eager to know about their school, culture and their lifestyle. Curiosity and exciting was filled all over their faces. It was indeed a privilege to have them with us.

Recognizing International Yoga Day

The International Yoga day was recognized on the 21st of June. Students were ignited with the importance of yoga and its practices. The children were taught a number of breathing exercises and asanas.

 Teacher’s become learning Facilitators

We had the privilege of having Mr. Arul Prabhakar from Christ University working along with our teachers on lesson planning and innovative teaching methodologies. The teachers were involved in understanding, observing and creating creative learning ideas. Teachers should be facilitators in assisting children to grasp knowledge and lead them towards achieving their goals.

Enabling leadership – Student Council Elections 2018

It was the second student council elections at SUKRUPA. Students from different classes began canvasing for the various posts in the student’s council. There was great excitement and enthusiasm among the teachers and students throughout the elections.

The students experienced the complete process of an election right from the announcement of elections, submission of nomination, announcement of candidates, canvasing, casting of votes, counting of votes and the elections results. It was indeed a great learning for children to experience fair democracy at school. The nominated members took oath and committed towards contributing to the welfare of the school.

Ready for School

At SUKRUPA we ensure that children receive new uniforms, shoes, notebooks and stationaries every year. This enable the children coming from underprivileged to be happy and excited to be ready for school. Children from preschool to tenth grade received their uniforms and books along with their parents. We thank all our supporters for their contribution and support.

Foundation Day with Bank of Baroda

SUKRUPA thanks Bank of Baroda for their contribution towards stationaries for the children from preschool to tenth grade on the occasion of Foundation Day 2018.

The story of Sundarapoo who dreams to be a teacher

Sundarapoo completed her high school at SUKRUPA and went to Mount Carmel College. She completed her 12th grade and is now pursuing her graduation. She has three siblings and her father being bed ridden for months, her mother is the only bread winner of the family. Even among these odds Sundarapoo is able to have a better life. Here is what she as to say about her few weeks at college.
"It has been two weeks in college and I feel so happy and proud to be able to go to such a prestigious institution. I feel I’m lucky joining Mount Carmel College. I have made new friends and interacting with them is a new experience. I get to know about their stories, culture and their lifestyle. I’m studying History, Economics and Sociology. The teachers are very friendly and co-operative. My economics teacher smiles at me when she takes the attendance and whenever I see her in the campus I greet her with a smile. I’m part of the National Social Service club where I can explore more about my subjects. I want to be a teacher someday and make my mother happy"

SUKRUPA - Quarterly progress report of SUKRUPA’s programs Jan – April 2018

SUKRUPA is delighted to report the progress of different programs carried out during the quarter Jan – April 2018 as given below.

This quarter we have had several programs in the school both curricular and extracurricular. We successfully conducted two life skill programs for the children enhancing their ability to think and grow. With the academic year coming to an end we witnessed the graduation day of the pre-school kids and the high school children passed out with flying colors. Summer camp was the most exciting of all filled with fun and enthusiasm. Nurturing on values, skills such has gardening, dance, photography and much more were some of the skills we imparted to the children. Here are some of the programs that were carried out this quarter.

Stimulating creativity and life skills

'My home my city’

A two day workshop was conducted for the students of seventh and eighth grade on my home my city. The children had creative sessions, learnt to build their own city and engaged in various activities. We were privileged to have Mr. Nirmal Kulkarani, Architect, Founder-President of INDES-Investigating design and his team Prasad Rao, Marine Merchant Officer, Nakul Raju and Nidhi shivaraj Patel for making this workshop possible.

Encouraging Science and Mathematics!!

It was wonderful for our children to participate in the Yearn to Learn Science and Math Olympiad. It created competitive spirit among the students and the children were excited to receive their certificates. We thank Ms. Nikihiya Shamsher – Founder Yearn to learn for continued support.

I’m a Little Graduate – Pre-School Graduation Day

With a year filled with ‘experimental learning along with fun and enjoyment’ the tiny tots had their graduation day filled with love and fun. It was a moment to cherish for the parents and the management. We thank our teachers for their passion and commitment towards creating a safe and happy learning throughout the year. It was proud moment for the parents to know that their children were taking their next steps. We hope that these children would enhance their personal lives and become positive contributors to themselves and the society

Health Checkup Camp by Ambedkar College

SUKRUPA had a three day health checkup camp for the children at SUKRUPA. Basic health checkup was done for all the children from day care to 10th grade. The children were given prescriptions and precautions to take good care of their health.

We thank the doctors and the students of Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital for making this health checkup camp possible.

Recognizing International Women’s Day

“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights. We at SUKRUPA looked back at the impact and change that we have been creating empowering young women, avoiding child marriages through education and skills development. We pledged to impart the best of education, nurture young girls to complete high school, get into college and become college graduates. We look forward to empowering more girls socially and economically through education, skills development, and entrepreneurship to become responsible and be a change to their family and the community they come from.

Creating Yourself!! Nurturing with Life Skills

Along with academics and creativity we focus on nurturing the children with life skills which becomes the foundation for teenagers. A five day workshop was conducted for the students of 10^th Grade to identify their personality traits and encourage themselves to become self-aware to channelize their further steps. Through the program the children were able to realize their individual strengths, understand differences, and find solutions and to use their strengths in the right way. Team building activities were conducted for them to help them come up with strategies, be responsible, be open to learn and be creative.

SUKRUPA Summer Camp 2018

This summer camp theme focused on values that the children have to grow up with in order to lead a good life. Along with continuous mentoring we also engaged the children with Indoor games, vocabulary skills, gardening, scrap book making, creative collage and much more throughout the summer camp. We thank all the college students from SUMARGADHARSHAK and volunteers for making this summer camp an exciting one.

Values - The foundations of life!!

The growth process of a tree is as we grow from children to adolescents to young adults and like a tree, the strength and quality of life is largely dependent on the strength and quality of the roots - the values we learn as children.

The children were able to imbibe the values such as being honest, working hard, staying humble, having gratitude, giving back to the community and many more so that these values become the roots of a healthy life.

Nurturing young minds!!

As SUKRUPA’s focus had been enriching the lives of children with life skills, a six day intense life skill workshop was conducted the students of high school. Self-awareness, management of emotions, choices and consequences, problem solving, pushing their limits and goals, setting goals and presentation were some of the skills that the children were nurtured. Team building activities and tasks helped the children to make decisions, be self-aware, create positives and solve problems. Through the life skills program they were able to innovate, understand their strengths and set goals which are measurable, attainable, relatable and time bound. All these skills would support them to focus on their education and grow to become responsible and accountable for their actions.

SUMARGADHARSHAK Scholarship Program

SUMARGADHARSHAK is a scholarship and mentoring program for college students - one of SUKRUPA’s major intervention. Suprajit Foundation and SUKRUPA congratulates all the students of the prestigious Suprajith Scholarship for the academic year 2016-17. Our heartfelt thank you Mr. K. Ajith Kumar Rai – Chairman Suprajith Foundation for continued support. We were honored to have our trustee Ms. Preethika Alva on this special occasion.

Getting connected and making progress

 Visit to Adobe

The SUKRUPA Boys from high school had a sportive time with the employees of Adobe. The children spent an enthusiastic afternoon at the Adobe office playing cricket and having an interactive time with the employees. We thank Adobe for their continued support.

SUKRUPA with Tsinghua University

We were privileged to have Mr. Hongxin Chen and Mrs. Huina Yuvan and their team of enthusiastic students from Tsinghua University, Beijing China. The children had an interactive session learning about their culture, traditions and also sharing their stories and all that they learn at school.

Visit by Patrician College Chennai

It was wonderful to have students and teachers from Patrician College of Arts and Science Chennai visiting us. The children were excited and enthusiastic to interact with the team of Patrician College sharing their thoughts and ideas. The children showcased their talents giving dance performance, theatre and singing. We look forward to creating many more such opportunities for the children so that they will be able to share knowledge and engage in learning.
