Promoting talented women in the STEAM areas

By Diana Salazar | Co-founder Geek Girls LatAm

I love to continue sharing with you our progress in promoting the talented women who are transforming the Digital Economy for Latin America. Thank you for continuing to support our sustainability as a Colombian non-profit organization that positively impacts the lives of Latina girls and women!

Our organization entered into a powerful partnership with the Coursera platform, which provides online training and certifications. From there we launched the Talents 4.0 program. Since then, 366 Latin American women have developed skills in areas such as Data Science, Computer Science, and Business. In the development of this process, which began in May 2021, more than 700 applications were received, 450 women were accepted as fellows and 366 of them successfully completed their training. After more than 8,000 hours of learning, the scholarship holders achieved more than 450 certifications. More than 40 of them managed to pass five or more courses.

32% of the applicants to this learning process did not have any experience in virtual training, so GGL designed a series of pedagogical and support strategies for our interns to achieve their goals.

Thanks to the contributions to our cause, this type of missionary program are possible, during this year 2022 new cohorts of Talents 4.0 will be open to the public, mostly 100% free for the participants.

‘’When I enrolled in the program, I had the fortune to do data science, innovation, with the Geek Girls Latam and Coursera alliance. I am very grateful for the support, follow-up, and inspiration. Thanks to the initiative, I was also able to participate in the International program dictated by ESADE. Without a doubt, I can affirm that it has been a source of growth, and of opportunities that come to transform our lives.’’- said Yazuline, a participant in the program.

We love you!
