Sijonge Kuwe Youth Development Project is pleased to report about our activities for the past four months from 15 March to 13 July 2023.It is very cold in Cape Town since it is winter and the winter is made to be more cold because of loadshedding which is very destructive.Despite these challenges Sijonge Kuwe as been active as usual during this period.
11 Youths,6 women and 1 person with disability were trained on art/cultural skills training during this period and all these people completed Basic Business Skills Training which is a two weeks course on how to run a business.
24 Businesses from the local community were counselled during this reporting period and counselling was mainly on Business Plan,Costing& Pricing,How to tender for business and Budgeing.This include 5 new business start ups that were started in April 2023.
3 Different workshops were held during this period including Swot Analysis for the business,How to register businsses for tendering and Costing& Pricing for the business.30 Entrepreneurs attended these workshops.
Meetings/networking-We attended Sataholders meeting conducted by Khayelitsha Development Forum on new developments in Khayelitsha and a report meeting on Budge for the City of Cape Town for 2023/24 Financial Year.
Conclusion

Sijonge Kuwe Youth Development Project was very active in this period from 16 November 2022 to date 15 March 2023.We closed for december holidays on 20 December 2022 and we opened our office on 9 January 2023.All our training and business development programmes were very active with clients coming to our centre from differents parts of Khayelitsha and surrounding communities.
Despite the challenges like load shedding 15 people(7 youth,6 women and 2 people with disabilities were trained in art/cultural skills training and all these people attended business skills training which is the intergral part of our programmes.
33 community entrepreneurs from Khayelitsha visited our office for business advices and business information on how to run a business.4 different workshops were conducted on topics like Budgeting,How to tender for government and private esctor,Costing and Pricing as well as Record Keeping for the business.
The art/cultural skills training and business skills training are having an impact on our people as more people are opening up their own businesses.Sijonge Kuwe Business Counsellor is visiting these ex-trainees in their businesses giving them advice on how to run their businesses..

Sijonge Kuwe was very active during this period from 12/7/22 to 08/11/22.8 Women and 4 youth from the disadvantaged communities of Khayelitsha were trained on how to make beads work neckclases,headgear and other traditional wares.7 jobs were created during this reporting period.

The aim and objectives of Sijonge Kuwe Youth DEv.Project is to fight unemployment and poverty amongst the people of Khayelitsha and surrounding communities.This is done through skills training,business skills training and mentorship programme through out the year round.
On behalf of Management,Staff and our Board as well as our beneficiaries we would like to thank GlobalGiving and other donors for their support of Sijonge Kuwe Youth DEvelopment Project.
During the period under review 12 March to 9 July 2022,Sijonge Kuwe continued with its normal duties to meet its goals of rasing income and securing livelihoods for its participants in the training afforded to them through contribution and assistance.
18 women and 12 youth form Khayelitsha and surrounding areas were trained in technical skills training in arts.Aii thse people attended a basic business skills training which is a one week course on how to run a business.13 people were given business counselling on how to run their businesses.Counselling was mainly on Budgeting,How to draw up a business plan,Marketing,Costing & Pricing,Record Keeping as well as Cashflow plan.6 new businesses were started this period including a co-operative of 5 women in Makhaza.Sijonge Kuwe assisted these women with the purchase of 5 sewing machines to start their co-operative..3 Information session were held so that people can be aware of our programmes.
There is a big demand for our services in the local community where we operates and we intend to launch a new internet cafe in our area so that people can access internet,printing,photocopying and other related services.

Sijonge Kuwe Youth Development Project was active as usual during this period despite Covid 19 restrictions and growing numbers of people being infected by this deadly virus.
20 youth were trained in beads making and all of them completed basuc business skills training which is a two week course on how to run a business.
8 businesses were assisted with Business Plan and two of these businesses were referred to financial organisations for business start ups,
2 Workshops were organised for local communities of Khayelitsha,one workshop was on Budgeting for the NGO sector and the other one was on insurance for the business.These workshops were attended by 18 participants frm the local community.
Plans for the future is to train more youth to start their own businesses since the government is starting to relax some of the lockdown restrictions.
