Sijonge Kuwe Youth Development Project is a community- based project in Khayelitsha,one of the fastest growing townships in South Africa.Our key focus area is economic empowerment in the form of art/cultural skills training, business skills training,computer skills training as well as mentorship for the unemployed youth,women and people with disabilities.The aim of this project is to create jobs opportunities for our people and fight unemployment in our country which is 30%.
Unemployment continues to be the fundamental crisis in South Africa including Western Cape-Khayelitsha where Sijonge Kuwe Youth Dev.Project operates.It is clearly one of the disadvantaged parts of Graeter Cape Town area.
Sijonge Kuwe Youth Dev.Project provides art/cultural skills training,business skills training,computer skills training as well as mentorship.This helps the unemployed person with knowledge and experience needed to seek employment or become self-employed.Therefore we are helping the unemployed with the skills needed to secure their own sustainable income.
The project with have a very positive impact by providing trainees with a sence of pride in themselves,skills needed to attain meaningful employment and financial sufficiencyy On completion of training these people will start their own businesses and others will work in the formal sector thereby contributing to the main economy.
