The New Year started with a good note. We had received new furniture for the whole school which was a long awaited wish of everyone, courtesy to Smile Foundation.
New Initiatives: Smile IT Project – STEP was launched on 23rd March 2015. It’s a six months course for skilling candidates who belong to lower socio economic group. Students will be given certificate of Microsoft. They will be trained on IT, English communication, Soft skills and retail and marketing. In one year 120 students will be certified through this course.
Inter School participation : Inter School Painting Competition was organised by Saksham Bharti on 8th Feb 2015 at Saraswati School, Nithari. Our students participated in that and two of our students won the prize. Nasir of class 7th got 3rd prize and Asif of Class 5 got 2nd prize in their respective categories. Our students were appreciated by the organisers on maintaining discipline. These competitions help students in their over all development. They get motivated and their self confidence also improves.
Inter School Sports competition was organised by Concen India Foundation on 14th Feb 2015. Our 20 students along with two staff went to Palam stadium. We also got volunteer support from Dalmia Bharat. Two employees from there joined the event to motivate our students. Yogesh and Raju won first prize in three legged race and again Yogesh won third prize in 100m race. Students had participated in all the competition with full enthusiasm. More than twenty NGOs participated in the event.
Events a School
Independence Day celebration: Function started by flag hosting by our Chief trustee, followed by cultural program. Students did amazing job, the whole program was organised by them including anchoring of the function under their teachers guidance.
Volunteers from RMSI came to Nithari center and distributed some gifts to students which they had collected to full fill students wish.
On 30th March volunteer from Birla Soft conducted workshop on Motivation (Think Beyond the boundaries). He had chosen class 7th and 8th for the session. Students gave very positive feed back about the workshop.
On Holi eve volunteers from Accretive health visited Setu School and spent time students. They gifted colours and “pichkari” to young ones.
Holi Milan was celebrated with trustees and employees of Octane Marketing. Students performed cultural program and it was appreciated by all. Students performed a skit that was directed and written by them and it was very well executed. Everybody had a great time with little ones.
World water Day was celebrated with volunteers from Dalmia Bharat Group. They spent about half a day with students and disseminated the information on importance and sources of water to senior classes and did water related activity with junior classes. They also helped us by donating some books for the new academic session.
Corporate Visits by Setu Students : Our students were invited by Birla Soft to celebrate Republic day with their employees. Our students performed patriotic songs and skit which were liked by them.
Health Camps and Awareness Programs
On 17th Jan 2015 Max India Foundation helped us in vaccinating our students with Hepatitis. They had organised a puppet show for students. Through it they conveyed the importance of healthy food and healthy habits. It was very catchy; students enjoyed the show and at the same time learned from it.
Haemoglobin test for Setu students were organised by Sandesham and Amity Students. Students who were found anaemic were given iron frying pans and medicine. Class teachers use to do follow up with them. The motive behind this was to increase the haemoglobin level so that students will also show improvement in retention span and in concentration level in the class.
On Cancer Awareness day,4th Feb, knowledge sessions were taken in Nithari School and all other skilling centres with our beneficiaries. Along with the session pink ribbon was distributed to all the audience.
