From the Setu Desk
At Setu over the last quarter we have had a lot of activities for students, teachers and our volunteers. It has been an amazing period which had a lot of participation from our volunteers as well as some of our Donor partners.
Teachers training
We had two training programmes for our school teacher in the month of April. Our sincere thanks to Ms Ritu Taneja, Editorial Consultant and trainer for conducting the programs and shared valuable student Handling tips with the teachers. The training programs are a part of a series of programs planned for the teachers.
Awards and Felicitations
In April 2016 we received the “Champion for Change Award” as “Ambassadors of National Road Safety“ form Mr. Jean Todt President - Internationale de l’ Automobile with the Joint Commissioner of Police Traffic Delhi. Setu was among the top 10 schools selected for the award.
Another felicitation came our way when we received the award for the humanitarian efforts of organising Voluntary Blood Donation Camps from Mr Madan Chauhan, Honourable Minister UP Govt. at an event organised by Rotary in June 2016.
Health Camp and Blood donation CAMPS
At Sadarpur center general health check up camp was organised for our students coming for skill courses. Thanks to Max Foundation for helping us. Total 75 students benefited from the camp.
At Nithari campus an eye check up camp was organised for students and community people. Around 125 people were examined in this camp.
During the Quarter at Blood Donation Camps Organised in Gurgaon, Noida and Jaipur 720 units of blood were arranged thru Voluntary Contributions across 7 organisations
Interschool visit Mayoor- Students from Mayoor School participated in various Joint workshops with the Setu School students. Science, Maths and English activity were conducted during their visits.
Thanks to employees of Mentor we are able to celebrate the birthdays of the students of our school on third Saturday of every month.
Shram Dan by School students
Students were motivated for keeping their class rooms clean. It was a fun activity for them. They dedicatedly worked in groups cleaning, re- arranging and painting the various areas of the school. This also gives them a sense of belongingness and ownership towards their class and school.
At our Setu School the three week Summer Camp in May 2016 was a big success, apart from Remedial classes for slow learners, Student involving them in activities like dance, theatre, art and craft, creation of artefacts for fund raising along with environment initiatives . The summer Camp culminated with Training programs for teachers.
International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2016 at Nithari Campus. Senior students, students from GDA course, IT course and staff participated very enthusiastically.
In addition we had a lot of corporate volunteering at Setu. Employees from Cognizant helped paint and decorate the school, employees from Dell and Cognizant all conducted Guest lectures and Activities with the Skill centre and School Children.
Important Milestones
During the quarter, Mr Jang Hwan Lee the MD OF Samsung Data launched the Class 11 at the Setu School and distributed stationery to the school children.
To conclude considering the progress made at Setu, we would like to Thanks all our corporate partners, Donors, teachers and students for helping us create such a wonderful Organisation – Setu.
