SEED Junior Academy is doing well with 83 students aged 4-8. Located in the heart of Kibera slums, Nairobi, Kenya, the school is feeding and educating its students, who would otherwise be in overcrowded and underfunded public schools, or not in school at all. Students continue to receive lunch every day and breakfast three days a week. All the students are highly grateful to be at school and are working hard to acheive their dreams.
Three local teachers work at the school, and local Patrick Aouki runs the school. Patrick is constantly seeking out financial support opportunities for SJA through grant writing and building connections with local schools. Recently SJA had an opportunity to participate in a sports tournament with six high school classes, and the SJA children performed very well. The group of thirty participants got to shine up and were awarded socks and T-shirts for their exemplary performance.
SJA closed for the holidays on December 5th and will re-open on January 4th.
Events fundraisers continue in Toronto to support SJA.
