By Meghan Bruni | CEO, SEED Kenya
Construction is now complete at SEED Junior Academy, where a new dining hall was built over the past year to accomodate all of its students. In March a water tank was installed to collect rain water and prevent flooding, funded by an event organized by the school administrator, Patrick Aouki. At the school, students aged 4-8 learn basic literacy and math. SJA's 70+ students continue to be fed two meals a day and teachers are paid monthly. These funds are provided by SEED in Canada. SEED Canada recently hosted an event fundraiser and a bike-a-thon to raise funds for SJA. The CEO of SEED Kenya is scheduled to visit SJA this July to check up on the school and initiated an income-generating project in Kibera.
