Because of YOUR SUPPORT, nearly 1200 Students studying in Majhgau Secondary School and Kalidhunga Higher Secondary School are being benefited through the School Environment Improvement Program, implemented in these two schools. It would not have been successful if you hadn’t contributed financially in this project which encouraged us for the implementation of the project.

The achievements that we have been able to make so far in both the schools is that, students are now more aware about their local environment conservation and protection as they are organizing various programs in their community, skills of students were enhanced as they are organizing different competitions among the students in their schools, the environment of the school is kept clean and greenery is maintained. Construction of water tank and taps in Kalidhunga School assured the students for continuous supply of water in the school.

In August 21-22 2012, WATASOL training program was also implemented in majhgau. This program ensured to supply safe and treated water in the school and community through providing the technology to produce chlorine at the local level. Both the schools are not producing chlorine solution and distributing in their community.

All these achievements would not have been accomplished without your support. We acknowledge your support till date and seek your support to bring more impact in the life of these students and people living in rural areas. As Global Giving is providing 30% matching bonus in the donations received in projects and matching up to US $ 50,000, you can increase your impact in our project through donating in October 17th, 12:00 Noon EST onwards in the website on Global Giving bonus day. We also would like to request you to encourage your friends and family to support in our project and to raise more funds, so that we could bring change in the life of rural people.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all our supporters and acknowledge the support of all donors, well-wisher and partners of Global Giving. We would also like to receive your feedback and suggestions in coming days ahead.

Seasonal greetings to all our donors, well-wishers and supporters from ECCA, Nepal.

As in our previous quarterly report, we had mentioned that the construction of drinking water storage tank and construction of taps are in nearly completion stage in Kalidhunga Higher Secondary School, We hereby would like to inform you all that the students are getting a maximum benefit of the completed construction by now. 7 taps constructed in 3 different places is providing benefits to all the students to provide easy access to clean drinking water facilities in the school. Maintaining greenery in the school was our another objective of School Environment Improvement program to be implemented in the school and the school helper has been able to maintain the greenery in school through providing adequate water to the plants so as to maintain the greenery initiated in the school.

As per plan to organize Nature Club Reformation training on 10-11 May, 2012, the training program was successfully organized. A copy of report to take reference for the activities that has been done during the training program, has been attached with report. The report also includes the action plan prepared by the NC Members that they want to organize in their schools and training for the students to increase their knowledge and skills.

Overall, the activities in this quarter of the year has been able to bring a significant impact and changes in the school and the community. While discussing with teachers and the community members, they feel the change in the school and the behavior of the students who are engaged with nature club and its activities. And they are looking forward to get more impact in the students from the programs we organize in schools and communities.

We are planning to organize trainings on water purification techniques in school as well as to be implemented in the community by students, in this quarter of the year. Also, various skill based trainings like, wall-news paper development training, leadership training and Wall Commics training are planned to develop the skills of the students in the long run ahead.

With the above notes, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all our donors, supporters, well-wishers and the GlobalGiving team for your continuous support in our initiation. We would also like to request you to disseminate the information of our program in your circle so as to raise funds and support the education of needy students. We hope for your feedback, comments and suggestion regarding our program at ecca@mos.com.np so that we could implement our program more effectively.

Namaste and seasonal greetings to all our donors, well-wishers and supporters from ECCA, Nepal.

The initiation of water tank construction (approx. 7000 ltr of capacity) at Kalidhunga Higher Secondary school for the storage of drinking water and construction of water distribution system has been nearly completed. From 11th to 15th March, 2012 civil engineer Mr. Sagar Mulmi along with me, had a monitoring field visit in the school on the construction of water tank. During our field visit, infrastructures developed were monitored. As some infrastructures were not constructed as per the design estimation, modification of the structure as per main design was suggested for changes with the technicians. With the beginning of new education session starting from 3rd week of april, the students in the school are getting benefit through the infrastructure developed.

Apart from the monitoring visit, discussion and information dissemination to the government officials of District Development Committee and Central District Office regarding ongoing program in Mirge VDC had also been done. Necessary administrative procedures to attain the approval for the implementation of program were initiated in district government office.

As new educational session had began, a nature club reformation training is under planning for 10-11 May, 2012. The NC reforming training will focus on developing future plans and activities that are to be conducted by nature club in their school and community. Along with the planning, various other educational training programs such as Herbal Garden Initiative, Climate Diary etc are also under planning phase to support the moral values for the students.

With the above notes, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all our donors, supporters, well-wishers and the globalgiving team for your continuous support in our initiation. We would also like to request you to disseminate the information of our program in your circle so as to raise funds and support the education of needy students. Briefing to Nature Club Member on Nature Club Kit
Briefing to Nature Club Member on Nature Club Kit

Namaste, Seasonal Greetings and belated happy new year 2012 to all our donors, well-wishers and supporters from ECCA, Nepal.

In this quarter of the year, the pace of our work has been a bit reduced due to various reasons. The previously mentioned projects – Construction of drinking water project and School Building Painting project hadn’t been initiated yet due to financial constrain. As the fund raising is taking place continuously for the implementation of activities planned for the project, we are planning to accomplish the project drinking water project by the end of February 2012. The discussion with the school management committee (SMC) and the teachers of the school had been discussed during the field visit on 1st week of December. As the school does not have fencing around the periphery of the school compound, the SMC had requested to construct the drinking water project is such a way that the recurring maintenance cost is reduced and is more sustainable for long time.

The activities performed by the nature club members were also monitored during the field visit. Nature club’s executive members were guided in a group to use the materials provided through in the Nature Club Kit, so that the students could be benefited. Discussion with the nature club members regarding the support that they would seek for running the programs through nature club were also discussed. We found that the nature club members needs to be advised for better functioning and motivated. Hence, a frequent monitoring visit in an interval of 1 month to 1.5 month was planned.

Apart from these activities, Mr. Jack Williamson from Australia has been facilitating the English language training classes for the teachers of School so that the teachers could teach the students in English language and the students could compete with other students from different school.

Namaste, and Seasonal Greetings to all our donors, well-wishers and supporters from ECCA, Nepal.

The beginning of monsoon season (i.e. after July) after completion of our training program and ongoing festivals (September onwards) in Nepal had shown its influence towards implementation of our program in school. Youths and teachers participated in the training program had been busy with plantation and schools are closed due to ongoing festive season.

However, the operation of school during short period of time after our training program (i.e. month of August), the students involved with nature club were able to perform few activities in their school. Based on the report submitted by the students the following activities had been conducted:

  • To increase members in nature club, various activities were performed in the school.
  • A Discussion program on “How to conserve and protect our surrounding environment” was organized in school.
  • All the students involved in nature club vowed to perform their best while studying and performing different activities in school.
  • The nature club members actively participated in the cleanup program in and around the school compound as well as in their homes.
  • The executive members of nature club had decided to have its regular meeting on every last Friday of the month so as to plan for the activities to be performed in the upcoming months.
  • In future, different competitions will be organized in schools among students so as to develop knowledge, skills and increase competent level of students.

Apart from the activities performed by the students, Kalidhunga school had proposed for the development of infrastructure in the school. The infrastructure includes construction of toilet, construction of safe drinking water distribution system in school and painting of building blocks, as the beginning step towards hardware activities. The Department of Education (GON), had initiated the safe sanitation campaign, in which, all the school are supported for the construction of toilet facilities. Hence, the funds from District Education Office for the construction of sanitation facilities are under approaching process.

Now, we are planning for painting and construction of water distribution system is under process. The budget estimation to perform these activites are under consultation with engineers so that we could setup a friendly design and system for the students.

With the above notes, I would like to express my gratitude towards all our donors and supporters for the program as well as the GlobalGiving team for your continuous backup. We anticipate for the same kind of cooperation and support in the days coming ahead as well as seek your suggestion and guidance for the productive outcome regarding the program in future. I also hope for your small response about your feeling so as to encourage the students of the school. You could also drop in your response at ecca@mos.com.np.
