The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to do everything possible to help protect Ukrainian children from indiscriminate attacks.
In the town of Kamin-Kashyrskyi, the local branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross delivered 20 oil heaters for shelters in local secondary schools, helping ensure safe and adequate conditions for children staying in school shelters during the cold season.
With the support of the Poltava regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, renovation work was completed on the protective shelter at the “Chervona Shapochka” kindergarten in Lubny. The shelter has now been brought to a proper condition, allowing children and staff to stay there safely during air raid alerts.
The Ukrainian Red Cross branch in Pervomaisk provided warm blankets and flashlights to a local school for children with special educational needs. The items will be used in shelters during air raid alerts and power outages.
Four lyceums in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi district of Vinnytsia region received repeaters to strengthen mobile and internet connectivity. The equipment is equipped with backup power, allowing students and teachers to stay connected and continue learning during power outages or while sheltering.
The Ukrainian Red Cross regional branch in the Sumy region delivered blankets, mattresses, flashlights, and electric ceramic heaters to the shelter of the vocational college in Konotop, which can accommodate up to 510 people.
The Ukrainian Red Cross branch in Izmail provided a psychosocial support kit for shelters to the Odesa Regional Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care for Children. The kit will help create a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment where children can feel cared for, reduce stress, and receive emotional support even in extremely difficult circumstances.
Ensuring access to safe drinking water in healthcare facilities remains one of our key priorities. Within the “Access to Safe Water for the Population” project, the Zaporizhzhia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross delivered a modern mobile water purification system to the Perinatal Center in Zaporizhzhia
These are just a few examples of the Ukrainian Red Cross’ recent efforts to help protect children and support their right to a decent childhood.
In addition, our teams continue to conduct mine risk awareness sessions and psychosocial support activities for children across Ukraine. As of the publication date of this report, more than 886,000 children have participated in psychosocial support activities since the beginning of 2022.
