By implementing a financially self-sufficient model that supports local businesses, we aim to ensure reliable and convenient water access for rural communities. This initiative will lead to improved health, education, and economic opportunities, creating a lasting impact on the region. Your contribution will directly contribute to building a future where safe water is accessible to all.
Over 16 million lives in rural Malawi rely on community waterpoints, but up to 40% of them are non-functional. This leads to increased rates of waterborne diseases, limits access to education and employment, and leaves communities vulnerable to climate-related shocks.
This project aims to improve access to reliable and convenient water for rural Malawian communities using a financially self-sufficient approach based on supporting locally-led businesses. We will install, repair, and maintain waterpoints, ensuring over 95% functionality through trained local Pump Mechanics.
By fostering local entrepreneurship and ensuring reliable water access, this project will lead to improved health, education, and economic opportunities for the communities we serve. This sustainable approach will create a lasting impact on rural Malawi, transforming lives and building a future where safe water is accessible to all.
