Safe Latrines, Lasting Impact

By JACKLINE NAMONO | Executive Director

This quarter, we focused on monitoring and supporting families that previously received safe household latrines through this project. While we were not able to construct additional latrines during the reporting period due to limited funding, the impact of the facilities already built continues to be evident in the lives of beneficiary families.

The latrines remain fully functional and are providing safer, more dignified sanitation for households that previously relied on unsafe or inadequate facilities. Families continue to report improved hygiene, greater privacy, and reduced concerns about sanitation-related illnesses, especially among children.

During our follow-up visits, we observed that beneficiaries are maintaining the facilities well and continue to practice the hygiene messages shared during project implementation. These visits also allowed us to identify additional vulnerable households that urgently need safe sanitation facilities.

The greatest challenge this quarter was the lack of resources to expand construction to new families. The demand remains high, and several households continue to live without access to safe and dignified sanitation.

As we look ahead to the next quarter, we are actively seeking support to resume construction and reach more vulnerable families. Every additional latrine means improved health, safety, and dignity for a household in need.

We are grateful to our friends and supporters for making lasting change possible. Your generosity continues to improve lives long after construction is completed, and we look forward to sharing more progress as we work toward reaching additional families.
