This project is proposing to refurbish a house for a vulnerable family which is headed by an elderly woman and she lives with her seven grandchildren. Through this project, AHCM plans to empower the family of this grandma this Christmas to respond to their immediate need for shelter by refurbishing the house. The project is to be started and implemented in January 2019.
The demand for safe and affordable housing is enormous and the United Nations estimates that over one billion people around the world live in sub-standard housing of which Uganda is no exception. Housing in Uganda is characterized by insufficient stocks, inadequate housing delivery frameworks, limited financial provisions and ongoing undersupply. Since housing affects health and yet the target household members stay in a dilapidated house, the project will endeavor to support the renovation and improvement of their house. Improved housing is expected to reduce disease vulnerability and strengthen their immune system.
1) Decent housing for Konna Village: 2) The grandchildren with their grand mum will have a decent home to stay free from overcrowding and other dangers.
