Dear GlobalGiving Family,
Medicare Health Foundation's main thrust in the financial year which has just begun is to revisit its strategy and make it more robust to take it to new heights. In this streak, a strategy team has taken shape, with renowned people from academia and the corporate world.
Medicare has also for the first time formally set up is Marketing and HR Departments, in order to enhance its organizational practices and increase impact. Through marketing, we will be promoting our facilities among middle income and lower income groups, who may greatly benefit from good quality care at subsidized and affordable rates.
We hope that this new fiscal year is as eventful as the last one, and we keep improving our ability to serve the underserved.
We thank each one of you for believing in us and supporting us on every step of this journey
Warm Regards,
Team Medicare Health Foundation (MHF)
Activities Summary:
Resumption of Dental Service at Medicare Hospitals
With the arrival of COVID, Medicare Health Foundation, in compliance with the directives of the government, temporarily halted its dental service at both the hospitals. However, now thatthe restrictions are lifted, the service has been resumed, much to the delight of our patients who greatly appreciate our high quality care at affordable prices. Both the dental clinics at Medicare Badami Bagh and Medicare - Noor Elahi Branch are now seeing a daily flow of patients, who are greatly satisfied with the quality of care
New Partnership with Eye on Ivy
Volunteerism is key to the success of a non-profit. Over the years, we have witnessed that students are among the most enthusiastic volunteers we have ever worked with. Thus, when we were approached by a student facilitation organization, Eye on Ivy, to offer internships and volunteer opportunities to students, we jumped at the prospect. Now, with a formal partnership, we have students being routed by this organization for work hours, in which they have been active in areas such as social media, crowdfunding, data entry and fundraising.
Orthopedic Success
Recently, a little boy aged 6 years came to us with a deformed limb, which made it very difficult for him to walk properly. The underprivileged parents did not think that this problem could be rectified, and thus had never sought medical advice.
However, our orthopedic surgeon, Dr Saleem, after a detailed assessment decided to go for surgery to correct the deformity. In the month of May, the surgery was carried out successfully, following which is now the period for rest and recovery. The child is now feeling much better and is undergoing physiotherapy sessions. He hope to see him soon on his feet.
A Healthy Start, with a Healthy Mother
Uzma is a cleaner at a household, and makes a meagre living. When she found out about her pregnancy, she did not have the means to consult a doctor, and thus turned to the quacks in her area. However, when her employer, who is also a donor of Medicare, learned of her pregnancy, she immediately took her to Medicare Hospital - Noor Elahi Branch, where Uzma was treated by the gynecologist Dr. Asma. Dr Asma examined Uzma and concluded that are Hb was very low, due to which she was given IV drips. Over the next few weeks, Uzma's health improved tremendously, and eventually she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
Uzma remains grateful to Medicare Health Foundation for her safe birth and wonderful experience.
Medicare wins an Award at a Rotary District Conference
At the Rotary District Conference in Lahore in the month of June 2022, Medicare Health Foundation was showcased under the Rotary aim of Mother and Child Healthcare. The impressive work of Medicare over the years was highlighted and the impact of our interventions was acknowledged in the form of an award we won in the category of Mother and Child. This is greatly encouraging for us, and we hope to taek ourselves forward with the same zeal as the one that has brought us here.
