Project Report | Jun 20, 2016
A moment of Victory

By Daniel Marungu | C.E.O- Tiba Africa Foundation

Jambo!
I am writing to thank you very, very sincerely for your  generous donation   to Tiba’s  projects during Global Giving’s Bonus Day.   You may like to know that  in total we raised £1007/$1450 for our three projects, for which we are truly humbled and grateful.

This money has come at the perfect time.   It   is a great relief to us as we have been experiencing such serious weather conditions over many  weeks here in Nairobi that have left both Tiba and individual families in very severe difficulties, struggling to survive.  This has been  due to   sudden and prolonged storms, leading to very severe flooding, an increase in dangerous  waterborne diseases (cholera, diarrhea, hepatitus A and typhoid) and damaged buildings.  This has seriously disrupted our lives here in the Kiberia and Kibera slums, making it very hard for families to  function and work to earn money for food.     With the weather improving, and this extra money,  we will now be able to restart the work we were previously doing training and supporting people with AIDS/HIV:   now people can earn money for food again,  and have food in their bellies, they will be able to  take advantage  of our education programmes and   empowerment work, including  breathwork.    We are also  now able to  pay to repair our Abundance School  building damaged by the floods:   a leaking roof to seal, a new latrine to be dug, blocked drains to be  opened.  We will again have the money to pay for the children to have a meal each day so we know that they will not go to bed hungry. The mothers who bring their babies to Joy Babycare will  be more  able to find day labour and their lives and that of their children will be more stable.

We are now  feeling  much more  confident for the future and so very thankful for your  ongoing support.    If you are in a position to make  donations to Tiba  on a regular basis, this  would help us to plan and ride emergencies such as this recent one, without fear.

We will send you regular reports of our projects and you will find back reports on our Global Giving projects pages.

With grateful thanks and kind regards
Daniel Marungu
