6. 480 villages submerged in flood water

Dear Donors,

This is very upset news that the families AHD provided training on Fuel Effecient cooking stoves were affected by floods in 2011 after one year in the same postion. Now we need to re-build cooking stoves and support this project to be completed in the next coming 2-3 months. The floods damaged more than 10.2 million people in rural Sindh and still flood water are standing at houses, villages and crops; people affected by floods in 2011 are residing on road side and open air, they all need quick support. Through this project, we will be able to re-install cooking stoves. Targted families show their interest to re-build and AHD staff needs to visit these villages to see the progress.

We also needs your quick support and donation, on Oct 19th is the grant matching day and hope your donation on that day will help us to raise more funds for our project. GOD bless you and keep use for the humanitatrian cause in future.

Thanks from the communitis of Badin & Thatta Sindh Pakistan

Dear Donors & supporters

This is report of the area / villages selected for the project to start Fuel Effecient Stove cooking technology among 1,000 families and during Aug & Sept, 2010 a heavy floods hit the jati & Sujawal areas and all the villages selected for the project flooded with water and all actvities finsihed, now we wil start as flood water goes down and it will be possible within next 30 days menas oct 1st to 30th 2010.

Present Situation of villages:

* About 70 percent of Thatta’s 850,000 people displaced due to floods in Thatta * AHD office and all targeted villages are also submerged in flood water

Thousands of people in floods waiting response food, medicine & shelter AHD is providing help to some 5,000 families and want to support them with Fuel Efficient Stove activities again to help them in rehabilitation as the communities will go back to their homes after flood water goes down. Around 375,000 people - around 70 percent of Thatta’s affected areas population - were believed to have packed up and left overnight. Surrounding towns of Sujawal, Jati, Mirpur Bathoro and Darro — which had a combined population of 400,000 — had already been evacuated. A stream of buses, cars, trucks and bullock carts snaked out of Thatta heading for higher ground. Many people were walking, driving livestock and carrying bundles of possessions. According to the district administration, the floodwater is expected to enter Thatta city early on Saturday. Many people from outlying areas had taken refuge in Thatta, which normally has a population of about 400,000, and now had to move again, another official said. But Farooqi said one breach in the riverbank had been plugged and authorities were working to patch another near Faqir Jogoth. In Makli, which is a hilly area, devastated people were seen sitting out in the open with their children and cattle. "It is the worst tragedy.... We are leaving our homes in miserable condition". A stream of buses, cars, trucks and bullock carts snaked out of Thatta heading for higher ground. Many people are walking, driving livestock and carrying bundles of possessions. But some people refused to go.

“We’re not going to leave. How can we leave? Who will protect my house?” Affectees Said.

we request all our donors to support this project again, to help to organize rehabilitation activities for more please visit our other project posted on Global Giving for the support of IDPs
