Pitch In For Baseball will provide new and gently used youth baseball uniforms and equipment to leagues and communities devastated by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. This donation will allow children in these regions to enjoy the game they are so passionate about and help them return to a state of normalcy.
On Friday, March 11th, a magnitude 9.0 undersea earthquake triggered tsunamis which devastated the coastal regions of Miyagi, Iwate, and Fukushima. Through our partnership with Little League International, we have identified 3 leagues that need assistance to restart youth baseball for the 2012 season. These are communities where their equipment was literally washed away from the events of that day.
Through our communications with Kenji Kimura, Little League liason in Japan, we have identified the specific equipment that each league needs to restart their youth baseball program. These items will be shipped to Tokyo for distribution to the respective leagues well in advance of the start of the 2012 season.
Pitch In For Baseball helps children grow physically, socially and emotionally through the game of baseball. In regions where a devastating event has occurred, our donations give kids a chance to “be kids” and return to activities they are familiar with which is crucial to their long-term development.
