Some communities in and around Ho face challenges accessing reliable sources of safe water when boreholes break down. Families may have to travel longer distances to collect water or rely on less safe alternatives. Adjah Cancer Support Ghana aims to help restore access to safe water by repairing broken boreholes in five communities in the Ho area.
Reliable access to safe water is essential for drinking, cooking, personal hygiene, and sanitation. When community boreholes break down, households may struggle to obtain enough water for daily needs. Women and children can be particularly affected when they must travel farther to collect water. Depending on available alternatives, families may turn to unsafe water sources, increasing health risks.
Adjah Cancer Support Ghana aims to identify five communities in the Ho area with broken boreholes that can be restored through feasible repairs. Working with community leaders, water management committees, and qualified technicians, the project will assess each borehole, estimate repair costs, and prioritise facilities according to community need and technical feasibility. Funding will support approved repairs, replacement of necessary parts, and water quality testing where appropriate.
Repairing boreholes in five communities will help improve access to water for drinking, cooking, hygiene, and other household needs. Restored water points may reduce the distance residents travel to collect water and lessen the burden on women and children. Reliable community water sources can also support better hygiene and sanitation.
