Remote Reading Fellows 2024 Annual Report

By Ellen Yu | Project Manager

In 2024, volunteers from Remote Reading Fellows continued to send interesting & educational stories with love to more left-behind children in impoverished areas, centred on STEM themes.

With the support of donors and volunteers, we have:

  • served 193 students from Gale primary school in Sichuan impoverished areas
  • produced 162 e-books with audios version for lower-grade students
  • donated 318 physical books and other 1500+ teaching supplies (amount for 2K USD) for the whole school
  • engaged 85 volunteers, contributing 340 hours of service

Feedback from the school principal:

"The reading project can enrich the students' knowledge, and the students love the books sent by Remote Reading so much that they are already eager to read them as soon as they arrive at school. Now the students read the books almost whenever they have time, and they even show off to me that they have learnt something new, and ask me if they know how to do it. The activity is a special experience for both teachers and students in the village primary school. It is both enriching and innovative, with older children wanting to explore new knowledge in the books themselves, and children enjoying reading and listening to the books, and our Year 1 and Year 2 children particularly enjoying the audios, which they say are very interesting."

In the new year, we aim to extend this meaningful and engaging reading experience to more schools and children in need. We would like to thank you for your support and look forward to your continued interest in the coming year.
