This month, we wanted to give you a glimpse into one of the schools where Educación 2020 is changing the story for vulnerable students with your support. This video shows students from Chile's southern Araucanía region participating in the "emocionario," an activity that allows them to reflect on the way they feel about education. Heartbreakingly, most students choose images like sinking ships or desolate beaches to describe what learning means to them. One student in the video shares: "It's what I'm most scared of. That I can't do it."
However, we have seen time and time again that these same students are drawn to positive images after participating in classroom innovation initiatives. With your help, Educación 2020 has implemented innovative methodologies like Tutorial Relationships ("Redes de Tutoría") in vulnerable classrooms like the ones you see in the video, and the results are inspiring! Through the "emocionario" activity, students describe feeling empowered, confident, and joyful instead of terrified or bored. When we change the paradigm and allow students to connect with the material in new ways, we open the door to engaged, successful 21st Centuty learners. All that is possible through your generosity!
As always, feel free to reach out if you are interested in learning more about Tutorial Relationships or other educational innovations that are revolutionizing the way students learn in Chile.
Muchas gracias,
The Educación 2020 Team
