In recent years, we have integrated classroom innovations from around the world into our work on the ground. Our Center for Educational Leadership recently launched successfully the "Redes de Tutoria" ("Tutorial Networks") and we have proposed to scale this innovation into 50 Schools from Chile of different contexts and show to Policy Makers "Yes, we can innovate and this is the way to do it". We invite to our donors to sponsor a vulnerable school in Chile to help us to implement this initiative
According to the OCDE, Chile's school system is the most segregated in the world. Children from vulnerable communities have no choice but to attend the country's lowest performing schools. According to SIMCE, in despite that Chilean education budget has tripled in 8 years, SIMCE score has increased has grown to a growth rate which we will have to wait for 40 years for our most vulnerable students to learn what we expect them to learn. To change this reality: WE NEED TO TRANSFORM THE CLASSROOM.
Educacion 2020 will work with one public school in the poorest region of Chile, Araucania, to improve the quality of education provided to vulnerable children, implementing an innovative approach with proven results in short term, with low investment: Tutorial Networks. Through workshops and coaching programs, Educacion 2020 will give to teachers and administrations the tools they need to appropriately support students on 21century skills and abilities, focusing on learning how to learn.
This school, in one of the most vulnerable contexts (Higher vulnerability rates, low learning results and achieve levels) want to be an example. This project seeks to show the country that is possible to transform Chilean education by innovating the classroom. The school in Araucania will be part of a national pilot in 50 schools where Educacion 2020 will be implementing, evaluating, designing a large scale plan, communicating and disseminating the model during two years until May 2018.
