One of the best news we have to share about these last 3 months is that thanks to the people and companies that donated during these last months, we were able to cover the expenses of the transport and installation of a generator that we could purchase also with the help of a public entity. This new generator will provide the energy to keep the maternity operating room, the laboratory, the medicine refrigerators, and all the obstetric equipment always active.
The Mulu Maternity Hospital provides nowadays obstetric and pediatric care to approximately 6,000 beneficiaries, performing over 400 antenatal care follow up, 350 ultrasound and 80 deliveries per month. Thanks to the acquisition of this generator, all the equipment will be able to be continuously operational and without depending on power outages. In addition, by having all the systems available, it will be possible to begin training programs for medical specialists, as well as to start using the operating room without the risk of a drop in electric supply during an operation.
Our next challenges are to expand the maternity ward and build a new pavilion. A greater number of women and children will be attended daily, expanding the free health coverage provided by the maternity center.
Thank you all for allowing us to continue growing and improving the quality of the service we give.
