The months of April and May are time when the school closes for summer vacation and it is always fun time for chidlren at home. This is also time when we need to be more active regarding safety and security of children in communities. From our experience the number of children whom we recieve unaccompanied are more during holiday season than during school year. Whether our chidlren are safe at home is a major question we have been asking in recent times. Most abuses and ill treatment of chidlren take place at home from family or close relatives as per our Hlepline experience (1098).
We have to cater to more chidlren during holidays than during the year. Other than the above cited reason chidlren who have been placed in other homes during the year find their home in our premises during vacation as many of the chidlren's homes close for the vacation and children are sent back home. Those who have no home find their homes with us.
We try to provide a 'home away from home' experience to such children. It is fun time with summer camp for children during the vacation. We need to place all these chidlren back to school with support for school materials are new dresses at the end of the vacation. THis time too it was not very different. Our chidlren enjoyed their summer vacation and also went back wearing new clothes and beautiful smiles! Thanks for making it possible!
