GG March Accelerator - A Collective Effort

The Internet is still a relatively new phenomenon, and as a result, the ways in which non-profit organizations can benefit from it have yet to be fully explored. As younger people take the place of the older generation, comfort with the Internet will be even more widespread and it will play an even greater role in fundraising for non-profit organizations.

Launching a campaign with old media requires a significant budget. This is not a problem for major charities, as many have large budgets specifically for this purpose. Fortunately for the small non-profit, there are cost-effective ways of raising funds, like the Internet. A fundraiser promoted using social networks can gain attention for a small nonprofit while requiring little in the way of cash expenditure. This means with a small budget, a charity can draw attention to itself and to the services it provides.

The importance of adopting new methods of getting funds, such as online fundraising through GlobalGiving, became heightened for Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society in hard economic times. Charity may not be a priority for many people these days, so venturing into this online marketplace and taking advantage of the Internet's benefits have given us the essential publicity and fundraising boost.

The March Accelerator offered us a unique opportunity to raise a significant amount through online donations from prospective donors.Upon achieving the requisite target, GG grants with full membership and matching funds. What began as a humble effort to stay relevant and raise few funds turned out to be a huge hit. With 70 plus donations and crossing our target of $5000 just within the deadline has shown us the unfathomable strength of our benevolent donor network.

On behalf of our organisation, we extend sincere thanks to all the generous donors who stood with us and found our cause worthy enough for their hard earned money. Thanks to your donations, we will 'Provide Clothes for more than 300 Children' that would reside at our center, Don Bosco Nivas in Trivandrum.

At Don Bosco, we are always available to set up a visit for you, or to answer any questions you may have. We would love to keep you in the loop with our newsletters and blog. Again thank you for all you do for our kids. You are a part of their lives too.
