This project drills a bore hole, installs a submersible water pump, a water tower, constructs a digital kiosk, and water bottling plant, to provide clean safe drinking water to 1200 students/pupils, 100 staff and about 500 villagers in the drought-stricken Nyamonge Community.
Our students trek for over 12 miles to River Kibos in pursuit of water for domestic use. Kibos River is a seasonal River shared by the Community & domestic animals. This river is often polluted by affluent emissions from Kibos Sugar factory & allied industries. A lot of time is wasted walking to and from the river, students often contract water-borne diseases like typhoid, dysentery, and cholera. Drilling a borehole will provide clean water for domestic use, and save on time.
If fully implemented, the project will help save time, money and other resources: A bore hole will be drilled, a submersible pump will be installed, a digital kiosk will be constructed, and a water bottling plant will be installed. This will help generate income to maintain the borehole, support our needy students/pupils, advance our poultry and garden project, and help develop other Community-based projects. The project will benefit all the stakeholders at St. Francis Training College Nyamonge.
The project will improve the living standards of 1800 Nyamongeans by eradicating eminent water-borne diseases, and further provide a financial base for scholarship to about 300 needy students. In addition, constant water supply will contribute heavily to our sustainable development on-campus.
