Project Report | Nov 28, 2022
Ebonyida School Supply Project for 2022

By Idahosa Agbonifo | Founder/Ceo

It is no longer news about the significant role education plays in society. It is much talked about in the developed nations as well as the developing nations thereby amassing a lot of followers on the course for a better and sound education. Basic education is the core of a sound educational foundation. It is the major step towards building a sound mental system for young learners within the age range of 6 years to 14 years. Basic education is the foundation upon which other levels of education are built and a requirement for human, and national progress. It is fundamental to human and national development.

Upon this premise, EbonyIda foundation in its 2022 plans, has worked towards creating opportunities for less privileged children in public primary schools in Edo state of Nigeria. As we believe that basic education brings growth and development to the young one’s intellectual capacity as well as their morals, attitudes, and how they relate to those around them.

In pursuit of the above objectives, we have delivered on the goals by implementing programs geared towards meeting the needs of less privileged kids with school supplies to one hundred and fifty (150) less privileged children. The school supplies, including Uniforms, Shoes, and writing materials, were provided to less privileged pupils whose parents and guardians could not afford them.

BENEFICIARY

The School Supply program was given to three Public Primary schools within the Benin metropolis, carefully selected from three local government areas (Egor, Ikpoba-Okha, and Uhunmwode).

The schools are;

            SCHOOL NAME

  • Olua Primary school, Egor LGA
  • Aduwawa primary School, Ikpoba-Okha LGA
  • Eyaen Primary School, Uhunmwode LG
  •

BENEFICIARY SELECTION

The selection of beneficiaries was done by working with the heads of schools (Head Mistresses) who are acquainted with every pupil and their pre-existing constraints to basic school supplies and confirmed by the EbonyIda Foundation project manager. Interviews were conducted on the selected pupils to ascertain their poverty score and determine if they befit the purpose. A visit was made to the selected pupil’s parents in a bid to ascertain the poverty level.

NUMBER OF BENEFICIARIES

Fifty (50) pupils each from three (3) selected schools making a total of one hundred and fifty (150) male and female pupils benefited from this program.

EVENT TIMELINE

The project started in January 2022 by seeking approvals from the government authority in charge of public Basic educational institutions in Edo state (State Universal Basic Education Board-SUBEB) followed by the logistics which run till the end of the financial year 2022. Date for events and items presented to selected pupils was largely affected by the approval letter obtained from SUBEB and the timeline for the school calendar year as well as logistics issues. (. The board approval was obtained in September 2022 and the school supplies program held in the school as follows;

            SCHOOL NAME

  • OLUA PRIMARY SCHOOL                                               16th November, 2022
  • ADUWAWA PRIMARY SCHOOL                                   15th November, 2022
  • EYAEN PRIMARY SCHOOL                                             15th November, 2022
