Thank you so much for your generosity and support towards this project, Uganda has experienced a long dry spell since November 2016 to date, but even during the dry season, farmers have explored new methods of farming using modern irrigation systems, spraying and other methods to keep crops growing, however, there is still a challenge of inadequacy of these modern sytems to enable them do it at a large scale, however this has been possible at subsistance level to enable families have daily food without starving.
In the communities where we work, we havent received any complaints of famine although several parts of the country have reported starvation due to hunger. This project will provide modern seedlings when the rains resume to enable households grow nutritious foods for home consumptions and for sale.
No one knows when rains will come but we hope they will keep surviving untill rains come
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday, thank you for your recent interventions to enable us reach our goals, great interventions have been made in the communities including setting up of back yard vegetable gardens, however, this is the only season we had a very long dry season in Uganda, all crops are dry.
Despite the fact that we have made some interventions, most of our project financial goals have not yet been met, this means that we are un able to make any sustainable intervention coming year, With only FOUR days left during this year-end fundraising period, am requesting you to act as a Mountains of Hope ambassador today, I urge you to write to your networks and ask them to contribute today!
And for those who celebrate upcoming holidays, what better gift to give than one to your organization. I also remind you to take advantage of GlobalGiving gift cards and "gifts in honor of" this holiday season!
Well, now that 12% of annual giving occurs on the last three days of the year US donors can utilize this last week to make tax deductible contributions in 2016. We are cheering you on!

You are such a kind person, thank you so much, for the last four months, there has been a long dry spell that destroyed crops in Uganda, Joseph, one of the farmers in Mpigi District where we work lost 5 hectares of maize and beans that was estimated at $500, he has not given up yet, he says he can make it again, our programme will support Joseph with maize seeds to enable him recover from a terrible loss.
In Uganda, 80% of the population isdependent on Agriculture as source of income, today 80% of the population is rendered jobless, broke and there fore need help, this project with consistent donations would be able to bail out over 50 farmers in the District.
This month the District has started receiving some rains and most farmers have again strted planting.
We are looking forward to beginning trainings on food security in the near future. So far, we have raised just $30, but once we have enough funds, we are very excited to start work on this pressing issue. Currently in rural Uganda, poor farming techniques degrade much of the soil, leaving it infertile for future growing seasons. By teaching farmers about crop rotation, mulching, digging draining channels and other improved techniques, we can help them dramatically increase their output. Additionally, many farmers aren't aware of how to save crops or funds for seasons when there are little output. We plan to teach them the business and planning skills needed to ensure they have enough income and food to last their families the whole year. Thank you for your ongoing support!
