Term 2 is underway in Mpigi and Wakiso, but 100 children still risk being sent home for unpaid fees or missing uniforms. Mountains of Hope keeps students 5-16 in class by covering the 3 costs that force dropouts: school fees, uniforms, and books. $100 keeps 1 child in school 1 term. $300 covers 1 year. Your gift now stops mid-term dropouts. Every day a child stays in class is 1 day closer to breaking the poverty cycle
In Uganda, school fees, uniforms, and books push 1 in 3 students out of class mid-term. Term 2 started in May and headteachers are already sending children home. Parents in Mpigi and Wakiso earn less than $2 per day. They choose food over fees. Without support today, 100 children aged 5-16 will miss lessons, fall behind, and likely drop out before term ends. Each day out of class makes it harder for them to return
We stop dropouts by paying the 3 costs that matter most: school fees, uniforms, and books. We work directly with 4 partner schools in Mpigi and Wakiso. We pay fees to the school, deliver uniforms, and provide books. Every child is tracked by term so you see results. Become a monthly sponsor: $100/month keeps 1 child in school all year with fees, uniform, and books. No child sent home while you sponsor them. You'll get term updates + photos so you see your child's progress.
Our goal is for all 100 children to complete Primary 7 and transition to secondary school without dropping out for fees. We track each child through term reports and national exams. Children who stay in class through Primary 7 are 5x more likely to finish secondary school and earn a stable income. Beyond 2026, we want parents and communities to see that keeping children in school pays off. When 1 child graduates, they help lift their whole family out of poverty
