SELECTION 2025
The selection began on November 22, 2024, and ended on December 15, 2024. Twenty-one new students were selected. Among these students, 5 are from other cities and countries and contribute financially to the project on a monthly basis, as well as 2 visitors who are participating in classes sporadically. It was also decided to keep some students from the previous cycle, given that learning is never complete and returning to the basics is always necessary for physical and expressive development in the Silvestre Technique.
A DIFFERENT WELCOME
On January 20, 2025, the first meeting of the group took place, which featured a composition with some of the students from the previous cycle that had not been presented live. The objective of this meeting was to introduce new and old students and one of the possibilities for closing each cycle.
CLASS SCHEDULE
Guests
The president of the Silvestre Cultural Association, Doctoral candidate and Master in Literature, Àkànbí, was invited for an exclusive activity for project students. The theme of the lecture, which took place on January 29, 2025, was Ìbá Iáyè: Corpo, círculo, movimentos da vida (Homage to Life: Body, circle, movements of life).
DEVELOPMENT OF CLASSES
The classes that have taken place up to the present moment, April 22nd, brought what in the Silvestre Technique are called: first and second conversations. Both address the basic movements necessary for understanding physicality, presentation of symbols, and gestures. Understanding the first two conversations physically and expressively prepares the body for the challenges that followed during the continuity of learning.
Classes continue to take place every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 PM, lasting 1 hour and a half, at the headquarters of the Silvestre Cultural Association.
DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT
Due to a lack of resources, the project faces difficulties in maintaining live musicality. Some students leave the project when faced with having to choose between staying in the project or accepting paid work
