What a life-giving project!
By Michael Hildenbrand | Project Leader
Over and over I hear from the recipients of the pregnant goats that we give to widows, orphans and the handicapped how this has changed their lives. I also hear it regularly from the local government leaders in Uganda that attend our goat distributions. Many times they have told us "you are helping my people in ways that we can't because of lack of funds". Our work in NE Uganda is highly regarded by the local leaders. I will be in Uganda next week and will get a full report on this vital project. I will report back to you when I return.

The gift that keeps on giving
By Michael Hildenbrand | Project Leader
We had planned to travel to Uganda last December but the outbreak of Ebola in Uganda forced us to cancel our plans. We are now planning to go in May. There are several teams going to Uganda this year and many of them will get to experience the fun of participating in a "goat giveway". The funds we raise here through GlobalGiving go to our partner NGO in Uganda who purchases the goats and trains the villagers who will recive the pregnant goats on how to care for them. It is a widow, orphan or a handicapped person who will receive the goat. They cannot use the goat for food, they can only sell them or trade them. This gives them an opportunity to rasie funds for personal care. It is an amazing program that has changed hundreds of lives over the years. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Two villages will get goats in December!
By Michael Hildenbrand | Project Leader
We have a team of 8 going to Uganda in early December and the first project they are going to accomplish is to give pregnant goats to two villages! Our Ugandan team is now working with village leaders to select the recipients. We have sent the funds to our partner so they can purchase the goats. We will probably give 40 or 50 goats in each of the two villages. This is a huge event in the life of the village and will likely take all day as there is a celebration, speeches, and then a celebration meal. This is always the highlight of our trips to Uganda. We will be sure a get lots of pictures to share when we return. Thanks for your continued support.
