The Water and Sanitary facilities in Ajegunle slums is a welfare project that will provide potable water and a modern hygiene latrine for the people in Ajegunle communities. The project would deliver 2 borehole facilities and four blocks of modern latrine in Araromi, a community in Ajegunle slums.
Having raised $9,386 of our $12,800 goal for the project, the team has started engagement with the Local Government of Ajeromi-Ifelodun (Ajegunle), community leaders and local vendors for the construction of the borehole and toilets.
On 21 January 2022, The Adara Foundation team held a community engagement meeting with the traditional rulers of Araromi town to discuss and agree on ideal locations in the community which will maximize the impact and reach of the projects; and to explore the use of local community vendors for additional economic impact to the community. Community leaders made the decision to situate the borehole and sanitary stalls in the densely populated and centralized Asalu community as it would also facilitate access to clean water for residents of neighbouring Boundary and Tolu communities.
The Foundation is currently working on mobilizing vendors for the projects, having faced delays related to securing required municipal approvals.
