It was like this time, when a severe headache attached me, wondering what the hell this was, poor me Racheal, without realizing that the time for me to become a woman had reached, on the second day late in evening while on the bed, felt something an usual with my life, only to turn around found blood stains, rushed to my elder sister and she told me that I was now a woman, that was the beginning of what the real menstruation is on my side, since that time, my life did not remain the same, kept on with heavy flows that would keep me off the classes for over a week. Something that was a night mare to my mama, her being a single mama, it was hard for her to avail me with sanitary pads, I cut almost all the garments inside the house both belonged to me and to everyone at home to near finishing them.
The partnership of Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization with my school Namunggona Kigobe Primary school, answered my worries. My periods have a heavy flow to the extent that I have to change at least 4 times a day. Being one of the most vulnerable girl child in the school, all teachers recorded me as number one on the paper when UYSTO contacted them to list the needy children in the school to benefit from the project. With your support I have never remained home because of the heavy flow and long periods. I’m sure your support is not only felt by us here only but also by the Government of Uganda, rely your empowerment support to us, is a strong impact to Uganda. Menstrual periods are rely affecting the education of most of the girls specially to those whose the parents who cannot afford to buy sanitary pads for their children, I’m lucky that by the time I was planning to dropout of the school, you came in with this project, however i attribute this to the prayers we used to pray with our head teacher on the assembly every morning that we get someone to help us with sanitary pads. Rachael narrated.
All this was reached on while our field volunteer officers John mery and Jesse was following up the project. His interaction with beneficiaries at school availed Racheal an opportunity to share with us her experience
Racheal's story I think manifests your support's impact, according to the report collected. Figures indicate that there is a tremendous increase in the number of the pupils at school and projections still indicate that it will continue increasing. We still request a doubled support in this ,as the numbers may overwhelm school administration.
The economy is not good, but you have been supporting us to run this project. We appreciate you and praying that one time you happen to come and visit these wonderful girls you are supporting.
Being part of us as UYSTO to meet the young ones needs, builds our backbone in producing responsible and accountable citizens in the country who also would adopt the strength, values and powers of fundraising for addressing world challenges.
You have made us persistently met our commitment in this projector pledge in the project was to provide sanitary pads to our partner school ( Namunggona Kigobe) for keeping a girl child in school and increasing their enrollment, we heading for this and still adhered to seeing it more successful.
According to the report got from the students and headteacher of the school, the target number of the girls has persistently fulfilled the agreement of attending classes and that the number of the girls has started increasing expecting GlobalGiving and UYSTO's support to them, with bigger enrollment observed in primary 5 and 6.Learners are no long frequenting the staff room asking for toilet tissue papers for padding, This at the same time creates worries to UYSTO, making the staff scratch their head thinking of adding on the targeted number with the aim of not overwhelming their expectations, but again, we think, no worries at all when we are with you Global giving and your donor world committed to address the world challenges.
GlobalGiving rely thanks for being our strong voice to see us moving on with this personal healthy living environment at school, i think we are born again, One of the learners, Immaculate was quoted saying the statement.
We thank you GlobalGiving and the world donors for your continued support to us as UYSTO and the young people of Uganda and the world at large.

Its 3months back since you last heard from us at UYSTO, today we are very much pleased to reach out to you with wonderful information collected from the girl child you care about here in Uganda.
Our “donate to buy sanitary pads for 50 girls in school project” follow up team, had to interact with our project beneficiaries and a lot was shared. The team first listened to the girls’ testimonies about the support and got too much touched, thought it could be more memorable and concerning the world if these wonderful messages would be put before the donors and the restof the people in the world. The team leader, our volunteer John merry posed and then asked what would it require you to have this testimony in a written form? all the beneficiaries shout out, a pen and paper, One Immaculate said,”this would be wonderful if our donors could really see how we personal put out our appreciation to them and the way we have changed with their kind support sent to us through UYSTO”. And the team agreed to leave the girls and put up literature that we think will be in position to attract every one's attention, you will hear what these young girls are talking about your support.
After a week, we got concerned and made another visit and what we collected are really touching stories that one would not miss reading. Here at UYSTO, we encourage you to read these stories, you will really not remain the same, these are stories containing new other projects communicated from your girl child you are supporting.
When interaction with these girls, we felt touched with the happiness expressed and new ideas they shared with us in the discussion.

There time came and GlobalGiving disburses donations collected for buying sanitary pads for the poor urban school girl child to Uganda Youth skills Training Organization. The process of delivering sanitary pads was underwent, preparations were arranged together with volunteers from Lithuania and Uganda as well as youths at UYSTO training center, something that kept their mind unsteady, to find out that girls in schools cannot access sanitary pads, as this one was not enough, they also got it on their arrival at school from the teachers, that teachers too cannot afford to buy sanitary pads.
While on arrival, joyous groups of cubs surrounded us with marvelous songs, praising us for the support rendered to their sisters, this inspired us to raise up our banner written on “Uganda Youth skills Training Organization together with its individual donors through Globalgiving donates sanitary pads to poor urban school girl child”
UYSTO voluntary staff and the director, were welcomed by the deputy head teacher at Namungona Kigobe primary school and presented the visitors book for signing, thereafter we had meet the teens who were full of joy and ready to receive their packages.
The deputy head teacher welcomed us once again and presented her speech and in her words, she appreciated the package and the work done for the young girl of Uganda, and requested UYSTO and Globalgiving to continue what she called “unusual work” helping those that you have never met.
I cannot believe that what you are telling is true, that you got this support to us from individuals who do not know us, the deputy head teacher Rebecca said.
Rebecca, after her speech called UYSTO director to talk to the cubs and the UYSTO director assured the learners that its true all these are from people who do not know you but felt touched when they came to learn from UYSTO that girls drop out of school due to lack of sanitary pads as a result of parents being unable to afford sanitary pads for their children to be in school. They tiredly work hard to see that you stay in school, learn and be productive citizens of your country and the world at large. Bob the director Uganda youth Skills Training Organization, appreciated the management and staff of Namungona Kigobe primary school for the efforts put forward in upraising the girl child in Uganda. Added that “when you educate a woman, you educate the entire nation”
The handing over of the sanitary pad kits to the beneficiaries, was by the two volunteers from Lithuania and these were Donata and Fausta, who did it in the most wonderful and amusing way, full of joy and wonderful presentation.
One of the beneficiary Racheal, was requested to say a word of appreciation and in her words, she said “ it’s the prayers that we have been saying every morning on the assembly, that UYSTO and her kind hearted partners are able to keep us in school with this kind of support ,and requested UYSTO staff to extend couples of thankful messages to Globalgiving and that most especially to those who donated without knowing the beneficiaries.Since we now have everything required of us to be at school,we promise that, they are no more excuses. Racheal said.
Ended the function with praising songs from cubs following us to our old Regius car, entered 20 of us in number off back to UYSTO.
Thanks to all of you our most loved and wonderful donors for the love, kind and generous support you have put in place for the betterment of Ugandan girl child to attain education for future shining child and Uganda
