The year 2019 ended and with all our donors, we say bravo bravo for the great support you rendered to us for reaching out to the needy young people.

We rely appreciated your kind support to us when you accepted our proposal of helping the vulnerable young people and became the most kind humanitarians in handling issues that affect world future young generation for a better living. Your support through GlobalGiving, impacts the lives of the needy one in our areas of interventions.

We have through this project, acquired a project from European union, had it not been this project " Donate sanitary pads to 50 school girls in Uganda" it wouldn’t have been possible to have this project " PEN https://skillsforyouths.org/PERIOD-EmpowermentNetwork.html (Period Empowerment Network) . We have acquired more knowledge through this PEN project as its now adding a value to our services, not only to distribute the pads but also rich with information concerning Menstrual hygiene management and educating the beneficiaries on how best they can break the taboos, myths and stigma around menstruation.

We have also managed to train senior women of the beneficiary community, ( school ) such that the information concerning their children with menstruation is at their finger tips.

The project's impact has led to the best ranking of the school as among those in the neighboring schools due to meeting the girl child needs in menstruation hygiene.

Parents have also become responsible, previously parents have not been minding about their children, but our project working as model project, inspired other parents to provide sanitary pads and knowledge to their children in areas of managing their menses.

The project has also acquired a lot of visibility from other partners handling the same issues and this is leading to formation of youth menstrual management activist groups http://imkacdo-ug.org/  mentored by Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization.

Due to the involvement of boys, in the distribution of pads, a lot of sense of responsibility has grown towards being part of the menstruation process and its related issues.

The same project in 2020 has been transformed from reaching out to 50 girls to 500 girls under GG 2020 girl fund campaign, we still need your support in meeting your goals through us as your ambassadors of helping the needy ones.

Greetings from here Uganda, the pearl of Africa. Good news that we were able to host a Global giving representative (Leena Elseed) here at our Organization. Her visitation backed our activities a lot, we were able to reduce on the loads specially on engagement and effectiveness. She was taken to the field and she was able to interact with the beneficiaries direct at their centers. Girl and teachers appreciated the work done by Global giving.

She guided us and showed us how effectively we can engage with Global giving and benefit much out of it. In spite of what is mentioned above, regards the opportunities of hosting the special person from Global giving, we have not been able to donate sanitary pads due to having taken long without hearing from our beloved donors. This rely has been a test before the us as the conduit to the support to your daughters. We have received several call phones from both the school administration and the parents asking what happened to the project and our response is we are still fundraising. And indeed, we are fundraising for the project.

When the situation worsened, we tried to contact Global giving about the situation and told us that our treasury in Global giving was not doing well and that we need to wait until we raise what is required to be sent.

We also noticed that our donors forget about the promotions that global giving put as events to share what they have as a matching funds but when donated to a certain amount of money by the donors. These campaigns are regarded as the best practices by global giving projects to fast collect a lot for their effective continuous project’s implementation. We do not rely know why our donors don't get involved in such campaigns but maybe we have not yet learnt well on promoting the campaigns among them, but if it’s our issue I think together with my team, we shall address it.

Our sincere appreciation goes to you our beloved donors for the continuous support and love you have showed us all this long in spite of hiccups experienced during the project implementation and resources mobilization. We know that the economy is not always friendly but you have been able to be with us.

Your support has a strong impact in our community and we still request you to be with all the time, it has been noticed that among the girls who did well in Primary Leaving Examination in the 2018 year, were those that you have been supporting. This is every strong achievement for your support.

Be blessed all of you our world friends and we miss you all.

First and foremost, allow me to say that " thank you our beloved donors" for the love, kind and support you are rendering to a girl child. We rely appreciate your support.

Since last time we delivered the sanitary pads to the girls on , we have since then not been able to donate to due to having not received the funds from GlobalGiving, if you donate to us, we also provide support but this quarter, we have not got any support, may be due the strained economies.

All our GlobalGiving support is accounted on you, when you donate to us, we also deliver your kind support to your friends.

The good news to you is that the best students in the year 2018 in the Primary Leaving Examination, organized by UNEB (Uganda National Examination Board) at school level, were among those you supported. And the girls include, Shamim, Tracy, Doreen and Eva. And one (Aida) of our pioneer beneficiaries in receiving your sanitary pads support, has joined us at UYSTO for vocational and entrepreneurship skills training programs.

We are happy that we shall host a GlobalGiving representative Miss. Leena El Seed into our organization on 26th June 2019 and we shall be able to host her at the school. She will meet and interact with the beneficiaries.

Wishing you best and looking forward for your continued support

As usual like any other day of sanitary pads distribution 08th February 2019, John Mary and his team left here to give out menstruation education and sanitary pads distribution to the beneficiaries.

Interacted with both students and teachers thereafter, the program started, Joan was ready with her presentation, she took over the arena and started presenting, involved the girls in the presentation and majorly the presentation looked at how the used pads can be disposed and in case of reusable ones, how are they kept before reaching home.

While John Mary was interacting with the senior woman, she was quoted saying that " Ending sanitary pads project, a disastrous to us" Our enrollment not only for girls but also for boys has increased due this project, our main worry now is that the project might be ending soon.

This might lead to loosing school children bigger numbers not because they are going to other schools but dropping out. All the parents and Kampala Capital City Authority have been looking at us as a model school in minding a lot about the girl child.

She requested for project continuation but this still will also depend on our beloved project supporters. the more the links and new donors on board, the more the chance to continue the project, John Mary said.

We also really need to continue supporting the project, but we are constrained with resources and we cannot keep funding one project, we need also to see how together we can sustain this such that we can also start virgin projects for other side of the needy ones.

Menstrual periods are a dirty natural experience” May be that could be the reason the girl’s counterparts (boys) make fun of them when in menstrual periods. Here UYSTO www.skillsforyouths.org comes with this wonderful education about menstrual periods to young people. We educate both boys and girls that menstrual periods are not a dirty natural experience as it is being talked about by the man (Human). But it’s God's way of women creation, the mother of the nations and that everyone on us is as a result of a missed period. With the back ground above, Florence and Joy our experts in menstrual periods education explain to the audience.

In the same awareness education, girls were told how to practice a proper disposal of used sanitary pads and boys made a commitment of understanding that menstrual period is part of our sisters and them as boys, and therefore, they would committee themselves to join girls in being part of that testing moment.

Boys will make sure that they contribute towards girls experiencing safe menstrual periods by engaging them in simple exercises, contributing to the girl’s budget for securing sanitary pads among others.
