Serving in times of pandemic

Patients waiting for vaccination services

Dear donor, please accept our heartiest greeting.  Gifts from donors like you provide the financial and moral support needed to continue our mission of achieving quality and affordable pediatric care services for the children population in need, living in the underserved communities of the Punta Cana region  .

These are hard times but “United we are Stronger”, better times will come !

The isolation measures imposed by the Dominican Government to counteract the spread of covid-19, gave way to the temporary modification of the offer of the medical services.

Due to “new normal” there have been new challenges to face:

  • Health and safety protocols
  • Suspension of the calendar of activities  (meetings, trainings)

During the quarantine period in the DR (which began in March 2020), the emergency service remained 24 hours-seven days, with an average of 15-20 patients treated daily. Outpatient consultations and laboratory services restarted on Monday, May 25, 2020. Pharmacy and ultrasound services are also currently available.

The schedule is from 8:00am to 4:00 pm, from Mondays to Fridays, except the 24-hour emergency area (every day, including weekends and holidays). About 40 patients a day are being treated in the outpatient consultation area, 50 patients a day in the vaccination area and about 30 patients a day in the emergency area.

All the corresponding sanitary protocols have been complied with in order to take care of the health of the patients and the staff of the center.

Please see the picture attached

In the upcoming months we will keep you updated on the progress of our project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please let us know and we will respond as best we can.

Thank you very much again for your support, we really appreciate it !

Best wishes !
