Dear Donor, please receive a warm greeting. Thanks to your donation we have succeed until now, you have demonstrate to be conscious of children represent  not only the future but the present and their healthy growth should be a top priority for all societies, in order to achieve the sustainable development to which we all aspire.

We truly appreciate your support !

Currently 99% of the medical services are available and they are being demanded by the population (as the pandemic is being controlled in the DR and the national vaccination program is going very well).

Nowadays the clinic continues offering health prevention programs, outpatient consultations, dental care, vaccination, emergency, laboratory, nutrition program, pharmacy services, training program.

The x ray room is temporarily out of service while meeting new technical requirements of the health authorities that are almost completed

The patient service hours are from 8:00am to 4:00 pm, from Monday to Friday, except the 24-hour emergency service (every day, including weekends and holidays).

The center continues implementing the corresponding health and safety protocols, due to “new normal” caused by the covid-19 epidemic.  Likewise the meetings and trainings are being carried out using virtual platforms.

Over the last months the center has served 7,374 pediatric patients. The areas with the highest flow of patients are emergency, consultations, laboratory and vaccination.

The most common medical cases in the last months are respiratory infections and gastrointestinal disorders.

There are still goals to achieve in the first stage of the project:

  • Purchase the missing medical equipment and furniture (3 diagnostic set consisting of ophthalmoscope y otoscope, 1 dental chair, 1 air sterilizer for the dental unit, 3 pediatric sphygmomanometer, among others)
  • Increase the staff training programs
  • Increase the supply of medical materials and medications.

Looking forward you continue to partner with us !

In the upcoming months we will keep you updated on the progress of our project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please let us know and we will respond as best we can.

Thank you very much again for your support !

Best wishes !

Dear donor, please accept our heartiest greeting.  Thank you very much for your donation, we truly appreciate your commitment to our mission of offering quality  pediatric care services to the children population in need, living in the underserved communities of the Punta Cana region.

Regarding the medical care provided to the population, we continue implementing the corresponding health and safety protocols, due to “new normal” caused by the covid-19 epidemic.  Likewise most of the activities (meetings, trainings) are being carried out using virtual platforms

The isolation measures imposed by the Dominican Government to counteract the spread of covid-19, gave way to the temporary modification of the offer of medical services, but currently all the medical services are available (as the  pandemic  is being controlled in the DR) except the dental service, given that a new dental chair and an air sterilizer are necessary to meet the new health and safety protocols.

The patient service hours are from 8:00am to 4:00 pm, from Monday to Friday, except the 24-hour emergency service (every day, including weekends and holidays).

In the last 3 months, 4426 patients have been treated:

  • Outpatient consultations : 2414
  • Emergency: 2012

We have been developing a program to fight malnutrition,  which is the result of insufficient food consumption and the repeated appearance of infectious diseases, it can be chronic, acute and malnutrition according to the body weight. Malnutrition means having a body weight that is lower than normal for your age, being shorter than your age (growth retardation), being dangerously thin, or being deficient in vitamins and / or minerals.

At our pediatric center the “Healthy Child” program is carried out, which provides follow-up to the development of children under 5 years of age with nutritional deficiencies. This program is executed through an alliance with the entities Sanar una Nación and Unicef  and benefits the children of the community of Verón and surrounding areas (524 patients in the last 3 months) who not only receive therapeutic food according to their age and condition; but also the specialized services of medical personnel, who have been trained in the use of new tools for measuring acute malnutrition.

Dear donor, please accept our heartiest greeting.  Gifts from donors like you provide the financial and moral support needed to continue our mission of achieving quality and affordable pediatric care services for the children population in need, living in the underserved communities of the Punta Cana region  .

These are hard times but “United we are Stronger”, better times will come !

The isolation measures imposed by the Dominican Government to counteract the spread of covid-19, gave way to the temporary modification of the offer of the medical services.

Due to “new normal” there have been new challenges to face:

  • Health and safety protocols
  • Suspension of the calendar of activities  (meetings, trainings)

During the quarantine period in the DR (which began in March 2020), the emergency service remained 24 hours-seven days, with an average of 15-20 patients treated daily. Outpatient consultations and laboratory services restarted on Monday, May 25, 2020. Pharmacy and ultrasound services are also currently available.

The schedule is from 8:00am to 4:00 pm, from Mondays to Fridays, except the 24-hour emergency area (every day, including weekends and holidays). About 40 patients a day are being treated in the outpatient consultation area, 50 patients a day in the vaccination area and about 30 patients a day in the emergency area.

All the corresponding sanitary protocols have been complied with in order to take care of the health of the patients and the staff of the center.

Please see the picture attached

Dear Donor, please receive a warm greeting. Thank you for your contribution, we are thrilled to have your support. Through your donation we have been able to serve quality health care services to thousands of children living in the underserved communities of the Punta Cana region. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely grateful!

In the last November representatives of Akron Children’s Hospital (an ally entity our Foundation) visited our pediatric center and had a productive work schedule along with the staff of Fundacion Grupo Puntacana and the personnel of the center.  One of the meetings was leaded by Mrs. Haydée Rainieri (Vice President of Fundación Grupo Puntacana) and Mrs. Grace Wakulchikm (President of Akron Children’s Hospital).

The main objective of their visit was to weigh up the achievements and the new opportunities for collaboration through our inter-institutional alliance (training and internship programs, others) in order to continue contributing to the well-being of children residing in the most disadvantaged communities

Nowadays the clinic continues offering health prevention programs, outpatient consultations, dental care, vaccination, emergency, laboratory, nutrition program, pharmacy services, x ray services, training program.

As time goes by, the number of child patients (0-15 year old) belonging to families with limited economic resources increases, meeting the growing demand while maintaining the quality of the medical service is a challenge.

Relevant monthly statistics: More than 1,000 children vaccinated , more than 1, 800 children served in emergency unit, more than 2,000 children served in the out patients consultations

There are still many needs to meet; we hope that you will continue to partner with us in our commitment to make it:

  • Missing medical equipment and furniture ( diagnostic sets consisting of ophthalmoscope y otoscope,  pediatric sphygmomanometers, among others)
  • Periodic staff training programs
  • Periodic supply of medical supplies and medications (This is essential taking into account the increase in demand)

Please see the three pictures attached.

We will keep you informed about the progress of the project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please feel free to direct them to us and we will answer as best we can.

Thank you very much again for your outstanding support

All the best,
