This project will build a Pediatric Health Center in Veron, an underserved community in Punta Cana, eastern region of the Dominican Republic, for the benefit of more than 15,600 children in need. The child population will be greatly impacted given that there are not affordable options for them in the whole area in terms of primary health cares. The center will include 1 waiting area, 3 consultation rooms, 1 rest room, 1 vaccination area and landscape
There are over 15600 children in need in the community of Veron who can not afford the private health services, besides the only public health center is not enough for 70,000 inhabitants. These children requires special attention because they are different to the adults in terms of anatomy, physiology and psycho-social interaction, also they are more vulnerable to diseases and health complications because of the lack of potable water, water treatment system and trash collection service.
Our health project will build and equip a suitable pediatric center aiming to offer quality primary health care to the children in need of the Veron Community. The center will count with an appropriate infrastructure (3 consultation rooms, 1 rest rooms, 1 vaccination area, 1 waiting area) and qualified health professionals adapted to the needs of the children.
For children, the right to health is vital, protecting over 15600 children in need from the diseases (primary health care programs emphasize prevention without excluding the curative care), we are enabling them to develop properly during the childhood and adolescence, so they can reach adulthood in good health and thus contribute to the development of more dynamic and productive society.
