Dear donor, thank you very much for your donation, it is so rewarding to know that the work we are doing, with your valuable help, is resulting in the improvement of the living conditions of thousands of children in need through access to quality and timely health services.
This is mainly you have helped us achieve !, your contribution is really impacting thousands of low income families living in the deprived communities of the Punta Cana tourist destination.
Located in the community of Verón and accessible to all vulnerable communities of the Punta Can region.
This health center, inaugurated in 2017, provides quality primary care to more than 15,000 children (0-15 years old) belonging to low income families .
This and all the reports to follow will update you on our progress and how your donation is been invested in this social initiative.
Currently 100% of the medical services are available and they are being demanded by the population.
The patient service hours are from 8:00am to 4:00 pm, from Monday to Friday, except the 24-hour emergency service (every day, including weekends and holidays).
Nowadays the clinic continues offering health prevention programs, outpatient consultations, dental care, vaccination, x ray services, emergency, laboratory, nutrition program (together with UNICEF and “Sanar una Nación”), pharmacy services, staff training program.
In the last 3 months the center served 8,249 patients.
The areas with the highest flow of patients are emergency, pediatric consultations, laboratory and vaccination.
The most common medical cases in the last months: Respiratory infections , febrile syndrome, skin infections, injuries from external causes and gastrointestinal disorders.
The center has been focused in the following activities and programs:
• Vaccination program: Aiming to increase the percentage of children immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases.
• Continuation of inter-institutional collaboration programs together with Akron Children’s Hospital and Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) that promotes staff training, dissemination of good medical practices, research, and constant improvement of patient service through telemedicine, internships and rotation students
• Promotion of the Children's Reading Program thanks to the collaboration of Akron Children’s Hospital. The books that patients receive stimulate the imagination, creativity and fun.
• It is worth noting the restart of the community medical missions, together with Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). The medical days are carried out with the purpose of evaluating, prescribing and delivering medicines to people in poverty, reducing the percentage of deaths due to diseases that can be treated on time. The medical cases that require further follow-up are referred to the center. Some of the objectives of the medical missions are:
• Improve the basic health services available to the population of the area.
• Motivate rapprochement and facilitate the population's access to health services.
• Make the population aware of the importance of preventive health measures.
• Detect, prevent and care for cases in a special situation of risk or that suffer from diseases without adequate treatment.
In the last July a medical mission took place in five underserved communities, serving 150 patients.

• Purchase and implement a software to improve the administrative efficiency
• Increase the staff training programs
• Increase the supply of medical materials and medications.
