Parkinson is a degenerative and a progressive disease of a central nervous system as the disease progresses disability increases, and quality of life of Parkinson patients deteriorates. Parkinson disease has no cure but there are medicinens that can help the patients to carry their daily activities. Parkinson patients requirre constant supply of medicane.
For poor parkinson patients, in Ethiopia the cost of Parkinson drug is expensive so that, maintaining a constant supply becomes a challenges. To solve this problem Parkinson Patients Support Organization - Ethiopia provides medication support for poor PD patients those who cannot afford to buy medication. As a result of medication support patient’s quality of life improved.
Let us from Mr. Kiflye how the medication support improved his life. I lost my work because of Parkinson disease. With out work my income can not cover all my necessities including my Parkinson medicine. Especially nowadays the price of medicine is escalating, I can’t afford to purchase my PD medicine. As a result my quality of life was deteriorated. Thanks for the money obtained from GlobalGiving, I got drug support and start living better.

Parkinson patients support organization Ethiopia (PPSO-E ) works for Parkinson patients care givers to live quality life . Donating drug For those who can not afford to purchase brings quality life the Parkinson patients and job satisfaction for their doctors.
Parkinson disease is a long-term degenerative disease that affects the central nervous system. To date, there is no cure for the condition, but there are medications available to address Parkinson symptoms so improve quality of life for patients. Before the establishment of Parkinson patients support organization Ethiopia, Parkinson disease is less known by the Ethiopian society. This means patients going for treatment were limited . After massive awareness raising activities such as parkinson walk patients started to visit health institutions for getting treatment. When patients return for follow up, however, to the Doctors dissatisfaction several patients did not take medicine according to the prescription.. Some of them take a reduced amount and some take few tablets when they got money to purchase. This was because the cost of drugs were already high and also price increased from time to time. When the drug purchased from the Global Giving money given to Poor Parkinson patients helped the patient live quality life and their doctors become happy to see their patents feel better.
As Dr. Abent said I was frustrated when my patient show no improvement because of no drug. After they got drug, however, their health condition improves and I got job satisfaction.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurological disease manifest as bradykinesia, rigidity, resting tremor and posture instability (motor symptoms) and depression ,speech problem and a lot others (non motor symptoms). Although, there is no cure for Parkinson disease, there are drugs that effectively control Parkinson symptoms
In developed world they have different drugs for Parkinson disease treatment. in addition there are milty disciplinary team of health professionals to help Parkinson patient (what type of drug to use and others ) to live quality life. However in Ethiopian there is no enough types of drugs to select and enough healh professionals to help. More Importantly the cost of the available drug is beyond the purchasing power of most patients. Hence poor patient do not take the recommended dose, therefore, do not effectively control their disease. However, from the fund obtained from Global funding, the beneficiaries start to live a quality of life. As the Parkinson patient life shows improvement come by taking drug as prescribed by their doctor.
As Mrs Aster a Parkinson patient and beneficri of this project said . before the I got drug support ,. I had a lot of problem but after start taking a full dose of medicine I am better. I can say my quality of life is improved
